Munday: Bit of Lucy Plot
Today, we invite you to look at one particular school of thought, which lays out 37 Classic Conflicts that are recurring themes in much literature.
Which of these sources of drama and tension can you see in your own character's story? Tell us about them, illustrate away with examples!
Lucy doesn't have any real overarching plots, but I can spot a few in her backstory:
1. Disaster: The fire at the asylum. If that's not a disaster, then what it did to her certainly is.
2. Falling Prey To Cruelty Of Misfortune: Getting committed in the first place, and then experiencing her first power overload.
3. Revolt: You can probably stick her multiple escape attempts from the asylum in here.
4. The Enigma (temptation or a riddle): Her powers? The thing is, it's a riddle that's never really solved -- Lucy just learns to accept she's a muse.
5. Madness: That's how it felt to her when she experienced power overload. Also, she was in an asylum -- it was all around her.
6. Erroneous Judgement: What kicks the whole mess off -- not making up a proper game plan to try and tell her parents about her powers.
A respectable six plots -- not bad.
