Twosday: Back To The -- Which?
You find a time machine, of sorts. It lets you observe either the past, or the future, but not both. Which do you choose, and why?
Bonus question: If it let you visit one or the other, which would you choose?
Kind of depends on the rules of time travel here. Let me break it up into three parts:
Observe Only: As cool as it would be to see some things from the past, I'd probably end up looking at the future. Because come on, everybody wants to know what the future looks like. Whether or not we'll ever get that technological wonderland all the writers in the 50s told us we'd have. (I want a jetpack, damn it.)
Travel To, Fixed Time: As in, you can't change anything, or if you do it'll all go ass-backwards. If that's the case, I'd probably stick with visiting the future. A chance to go wandering around, check out what will be cool in theater and movies in 2100? Sounds like a great vacation to me.
Travel To, Changeable Time: As in, it's like BTTF and you can change things without ending the world. If that's the case, I'd most likely end up succumbing to temptation and go to the past. Mainly to see if there's any way to warn my younger self off telling her parents the way she did, or at least to tell her not to try and show off in front of the shrink! Avoiding asylums = very good thing.
