Tuesday - Changes

Ten years ago I was a skinny boy of seventeen.    There are any number of differences between that boy, and the man I am now.  I think they could fill a few volumes.   I will focus on two...

The first is that I am more aware of the world now.   This comes partially of traveling it, and partially of meeting people, a great many people from a great many walks of life in the course of those travels.

The second is that at the wise old age of 27, I finally understand how blessed my childhood and adolescence.  This is I admit, a function of the above awareness of the world around myself.   It also has to do with the injuries I sustained, both at Queen Isme's coronation and last summer, during the war.  I only now understand the myriad blessings, which I understood to be the normal course of life were...well.  blessings.  Not everyone has two good legs.  Not everyone has a father and a mother and a good relationship with their siblings.  Not everyone has enough to eat, a warm place to sleep and a chance to learn skills to help them maintain these things into adulthood.

Here's hoping the next ten years can be half so enlightening.
