The Moonlit Sea Trail

"Ah crap!" cried Kael as he quickly dodged a bullet, nearly falling into the sea. "Ok that´s it, who´s the funny bastard trying to pull my strings?"

A group of men crowding together near the ship´s mast began laughing loudly, it had sure been a hell of time since they´ve had some fun even if it meant pissing off the captain himself.

"It´s just our excitement cap!" cried Jhones, a small-framed but still very agile man. "It´s been a while since we´ve reached land and you won´t let us off the ship!"

Kael rolled his eyes, "Look Jhones, don´t be pulling that crap on me. You know the rules, we can´t just get to any island, jump off the ship and claim it cause´ they´re bound to be..."

"Seasnakes!" cried the men as they scattered around the ship, each of them taking their fighting posts.

The ship began rocking back and forth as the giant monsters lashed at it with their tails. Captain Kael climbed to the top of the mast, jumped and landed right on top of one of the beast´s head. "Die you bastard!", he cried as he stabbed it square on top of the head.

The creature hissed and shook its head violently, sending the captain flying and crashing head-first with a side of the ship. Then everything went black...

************************************************************************************************************************************************
Kael sighed as the memories continued to haunt him, it had taken him one month to recover from that attack and he had lost his ship and entire crew. And somehow, as luck had it, he had ended up in the shore close to Adair Island. A place where merchants closed their deals and tired sailors recovered from long journeys and bought supplies.

Biting his lower lip in anger, he began walking back and forth in the room, trying to take his mind off everything.

"Maybe a walk on the pier would help," suggested Melina, the cute-faced inkeeper of the Old Maze Inn.

"I´ve taken a dozen," he admitted, "I need to look for my crew, I know some of them are bound to be alive."

"What you need," she said as she moved away from her usual place behind the counter and gently took his hands in hers. "Is a crew, a new crew."

Kael nodded, "Know what... you´re right."

...

Pleasantdale - a new game coming soon from Lab Arc Designs

Info:
Would anyone be interested in an online sheeted/dice rpg game (system to be determined) featuring communist zombies invading a 1950s-ish town? Would likely be a weekly or bi-weekly session over IRC, possibly along with a journal or forum to play out things / track things between sessions. Characters would be human townsfolk of various types, everything from WWII vet to beatnik. Game would be cheesy fun in some aspects (Duck and Cover-- does it really work for zombies?), power level normal-ish human. Likely starting after the holidays.

Game blurb:
Welcome to Pleasantdale - A Pleasant Family Community

In the 1950s, in a pleasant little town in a pleasant little state in a pleasant little country, something sinister is lurking. The Red Menace! Communists may be in your community, hiding behind those white picket fences and shuttered windows of such normal looking houses. They could be anywhere.

Fortunately, you are prepared. Children in schools learn that all important skill– Duck and Cover. That will save you from any danger. There is a bomb shelter on practically every corner– and surely Dad's hard at work at one in your own backyard. If Atomic fallout should occur, you'll duck-and-cover with the best of them…. won't you?

But what if the commies have something other than the bomb up their insidious red sleeves? What if they're using that atomic energy to…. REANIMATE THE DEAD! Surely that's just fantasy– the stuff of those B-movies at the Drive-In, or an episode of Captain Mystery's Strange Theater on televisor.

Still… you can never be too careful. The red undead could be coming for YOU.

Watch this space: http://labarc.com/CharLoft/wiki/doku.php?id=worlds:pleasantdale:start

Some quick synopses of the gods...

Bastet:

Beloved cat goddess of the Egyptians, Bastet is goddess of the Delta, with possible origins in the Libyan Desert. When Bastet is associated with Isis, she becomes “the Soul of Isis,” but as a goddess of music and dance, Bastet is linked with Hathor. Their cult instrument is the Sistrum, which they carry as one of their attributes.

Bastet’s cult city, Per-Bast (modern Bubastis), is located in the Delta and is mentioned in the Bible as Pibeseth (Ezekiel 30:17). Bastet’s name is written with the bas jar and a loaf, and means “She of the bas-jar”—a special vessel that holds perfume associated with her festivals.

During the Old Kingdom, Bastet was called “Goddess of the North,” and in the Pyramid Texts of King Unas, she is “nurse and mother of the king.” When Sekhmet the lion goddess was named “Lady of the West,” Bastet became her counterpart as “Lady of the East.” Early depictions of Bastet show her with the head of a lion and associated with the lion-headed goddess, Mut. She is said to be the mother of Maahes, a lion-headed deity, and the wife of Ptah.

Like Sekhmet, Bastet has a dual personality, both gentle and fierce. Her association with Sekhmet reveals Bastet’s aggressive and vengeful side. In one version of the mythology, Bastet becomes the daughter of the sun god Re, and when she is called upon to protect her father, Bastet becomes the “fury in the eye of Re.” As a dutiful daughter, she carried out the orders of Re and was the “means of her father’s vengeance.”

By the end of the New Kingdom (1550–1069 BC), Bastet had become a popular household goddess. Egyptian families welcomed her into their homes as goddess of the hearth and protector of pregnant women. Her festivals were famous, and she was called “goddess of plenty” and “mistress of pleasure.” And as her popularity grew, her cult became well-known for its lavish festivals—some of which were called “Procession of Bastet,” “Bastet Protects the Two Lands,” “Bastet Goes Forth from Per-Bast” (her city), “Bastet Appears before Re,” and the “Festival of Hathor and Bastet.” These joyous occasions involved days of music, dancing, and merriment throughout Egypt.

The Greek historian Herodotus provides a lively description of the devotees of the goddess as they made their way to the “Festival of Bastet.”

When the Egyptians travel to Bubastis, [the city] they do so in this manner: men and women sail together, and in each boat there are many persons of both sexes. Some of the women shake sacred rattles, [sistrum, pl. sistra] and some of the men play pipes during the whole journey, while others sing and clap their hands. If they pass a town on the way, some of the women shout and cheer at the local women, while others dance and create a disturbance. They do this at every town on the Nile. When they arrive at Bubastis, they begin the festival with great sacrifices, and on this occasion, more wine is consumed than during any other time of the year. —Herodotus, Histories, Book II, Chapter 60

The worshippers approached the temple singing, beating drums, and playing tambourines. Some carried sistra (sacred rattles) as they danced through the streets. Herodotus describes Bastet’s lavish temple as standing on raised ground in the center of the city, so it was visible from every quarter. A temenos wall decorated with various animals surrounded the temple. The inner courtyard was planted with a grove of trees.

So popular was Bastet that the Greeks identified her with their goddess Artemis. The third-century Roman poet Ovid refers to the goddess Bastet in his work Metamorphoses and said the goddess could turn herself into a cat. Bastet was most often shown with the body of a woman and the head of a cat, wearing a long, narrow, sheath-style dress with wide decorated bands over the shoulders. The goddess holds her sistrum in one hand, and in the other she holds an aegis, a talisman representing a broad collar necklace with the head of a cat. Sometimes she is shown with kittens at her feet, a further depiction of her association with hearth and family. The ancient Egyptian word for kitten was miw, pronounced “meow”—the sound a cat makes. It became a term of endearment for children, who were called miw-sheri, “little cat.”

Pilgrims traveled from all over Egypt to visit Bastet’s temple and leave offerings to the goddess. Because the cat was sacred to Bastet, they left bronze statues, amulets, and mummified cats. Thousands of cat mummies have been discovered in underground crypts at the site of Bastet’s temple in Bubastis.

Bes:

The dwarf god, with a frightening appearance and a kind nature, Bes was a god of the people and his popularity never waned. His grotesque features and the magical knife he brandished were meant only to ward off evil and frighten demons away from the families he protected. Families loved Bes and often painted his image in their houses to bring good luck and well-being. Bes, along with Tauret, the hippopotamus goddess, was a guardian of mothers during childbirth. Bes protected houses from snakes and scorpions that were a constant threat to young children in ancient Egypt. He was always on guard against the problems of daily life. Bes was also a god of music and merrymaking and was often shown with a tambourine.

Bes’s strange appearance has caused Egyptologists to speculate on his origin, for he looks nothing like the other slim and elegant Egyptian gods. One of the most significant differences is that he is almost always shown full face and only rarely in profile. Bes looks like a dwarf with a lion’s mane on his head, and his tongue is often sticking out. He has short, stubby arms and legs and a lion’s tail. At different periods in Egyptian history, Bes has been shown with a large knife; a tambourine; a tall, feathered crown; and a skirt. There are speculations that Bes originated in what is now modern Turkey, since his images have been found in Turkish excavation sites. Bes also might have originated in sub-Saharan Africa, because one of his titles is Lord of Punt, an ancient land on the west African coast. The tall, plumed crown that he sometimes wears is much like the crown of Anukis, a goddess from the southern borders of Egypt. Most Egyptologists now believe that Bes is an Egyptian god with ancient origins. Several different grotesque gods have appeared over time in different communities in ancient Egypt, and whatever their local name was, they eventually evolved into the god Bes.

Sekhmet:

The lioness-headed goddess, Sekhmet was called the “Powerful One,” a name that fit the destructive side of her personality. Mythology tells us that Sekhmet was the “destructive eye” of Re, and with the fire-spitting cobra (the uraeus), they
were protectors of the king. The hot desert wind was called the “breath of Sekhmet,” and it was said that she belched fire upon her enemies. So great was her fury that the evil Set and the terrible serpent Apophis gave way to her.

The Book of the Divine Cow says that Hathor becomes Sekhmet when the sun god Re sends her to destroy humankind. Sekhmet rampaged on a blood lust across the land. Only the gods’ trickery stopped Sekhmet’s fury, and humankind was saved.

In the capital city of Memphis, Sekhmet was the wife of Ptah and mother to Nefertum (see family of gods). In the Delta, she was associated with the cat goddess, Bastet. Sekhmet is shown as a lioness or as a woman with a feline head, wearing the solar
disk and a uraeus. Her garment is a long sheath dress with rosettes over her breasts.

When the Theban Triad—Amun, and his wife, Mut, and their son Khonsu—rose to prominence in Thebes, Mut became associated with Sekhmet and assumed many of her attributes. Numerous statues of Mut-Sekhmet were erected in the Precinct of Mut at
Karnak Temple.

If a plague swept through Egypt, it was said to be carried by a “messenger of Sekhmet,” and the Egyptians believed that if Sekhmet could bring pestilence, then she could also ward off illness. So Sekhmet became a goddess of healing as well as of
destruction.

Selket:

A scorpion goddess, Selket is usually shown as a woman with a scorpion on her head, and her name is derived from a term that means “she who causes the throat to breathe.” Perhaps the rest of the phrase might have been “for the last time,” as a scorpion sting is extremely dangerous and can cause death. Selket is one of the most ancient goddesses in Egypt, having been associated with the Predynastic King Scorpion. In the Old Kingdom, she appears as a protector of the throne and the king, but her most important role is with the funerary cult and the deceased. She is called “Lady of the Beautiful House,” a reference to her assistance in the embalmer’s tent during mummification. In the Book of Two Ways, she watches over the “dangerous winding path,” a reference to moving the mummy to its tomb. She is one of four guardians of the canopic chest and assists Isis as she performs the funerary rites over Osiris. In the myth of the seven scorpions, the seven appear as a manifestation
of Selket when they accompany Isis to the Delta.

Notes from the World's End Library

I've been doing some reading in the Library between our revisitations, and I've decided that it'd be wise to share my book learnings with the rest of the class, so to speak. Here's the Katie's Notes version of what I've been studying. Bear in mind, of course, that Khemet is a different country, with different developmental paths, and some or all of this may not apply. Then again, many of the gods, at least, seem similar...

Egypt was first occupied around 700,000 BC by settlers whose only tool was the hand axe. This was the period of the Neanderthals; gradually, around 50,000 BC, when the climate was suspected to be more temperate, Neanderthals developed simple surgery techniques, were known to care for injured and elderly, and buried the dead in ritualistic fashion. The fact that these remains are buried in what is now desert regions indicates that the climate must have been more temperate during the Middle Paleolithic period.

Around 30,000 BC, the Late Paleolithic period, modern humans replaced the Neanderthals, and the level of the Nile began to decline. The people of Egypt lived in or near the swampy areas along the banks of the Nile for the most part, and lived on mollusks and fish, cooked on clay hearths, and made grindstones to process wild cereal grains. Hunting with bows and arrows was developed at around 15,000 BC. The Nile reached its lowest point somewhere between 10,000 and 5,000 BC. This is also the period at which pottery and cattle farming was developed.

The Egyptian civilization's history is intimately associated with the Nile - it is the longest river in the world. Its main branch, the White Nile, flows north from Lake Victoria in east-central Africa 3,470 miles to the Mediterranean Sea on Egypt's northern border. Starting in Ethiopia, another river, the Blue Nile, joins the White Nile in Khartoum, Sudan, and the rivers merge and flow into Egypt.

The Blue Nile swells due to spring monsoons and melting snow from Ethiopia, causing the Nile to rise, overflow its banks, and deposit fresh, rich topsoil on the plains on either side of the river, allowing Egypt to grow abundant varieties of crops in times when other civilizations were lucky to maintain one consistently.

The annual flooding was amazing to the Egyptians, who had no explanation for the river's swelling or change in color (from red to green). The silt suspended in the water made the Nile's rivers appear red, while the slow moving vegetation on top transformed it to green. It was a natural occurrence, but the Egyptians viewed it as the work of the gods, and began to notice consistencies in their environment that matched these natural patterns. They noticed a certain star (Sothis) that rose on the horizon just before the flooding began. They observed the sun - which rose daily from the east, traveled across the sky, and descended amidst a fireball of colors in the west, as predictable asever, day after day. The sun god Re was one of Egypt's most ancient deities.

Although Egypt is a vast country, most of the population lived near the banks of the river. Their lives revolved around the Nile, and the seasons of the year were determined by it. Our 365 day calendar comes from the Egpytians, but they only count three seasons - 1) inundation, when the Nile overflowed its banks and flooded the land; 2) emergence, when the waters receded; 3) summer, the dry season. Each season had four months of 30 days each. At the end of the year, five extra days were added to make the 365 days of the year - these were later used to celebrate the birthdays of Isis and her siblings. Inundation was Egypt's most unusual season, for it could change the very appearance of the land - a time when the fields were under water, and little work could be done. Emergence was the season for planting, and the crops were harvested during the summer.

The food staples of the early Egyptians were bread and beer - a phrase which held the same meaning to them as 'meat and potatoes' does to us today, as a generic term for 'good food'. One common funerary prayer begins: "May the king make an offering to Osiris, Lord of the West. May he give bread and beer, cattle, geese, oxen, and all things good and pure on which the gods live." The long growing season allowed the Egyptians to grow a variety of crops, the most important being 'emer' (wheat) and onions. Meat was reserved for the upper classes, but everyone had bread, beer, and onions, as well as fish from the Nile.

Year after year the Nile rose, the crops were abundant, and the Egyptians were secure in the belief that this was the way their world was supposed to be. This idea was expressed in the notion of 'divine order' - the way the gods wanted things to be - and was encouraged by Egypt's geographical isolation from its neighbors. Egypt is surrounded by desert to the west and east (to the west, all the way to the Libyan border; to the east, all the way to the Red Sea). To the south, the way was blocked by near-impassible boulders in the river; to the north was the Mediterranean Sea, which formed a psychological barrier, as the Egyptians never really developed sailing skills or ventured out onto the open seas if they could avoid it. They developed navigational skills on the smooth-flowing Nile, where they could sail south with the prevailing winds or north with the current. Military expeditions in later centuries took Egyptians to other lands where they returned with great riches, but it was always clear to them that their homeland was a paradise on Earth.

Soon after recorded history began, when the Egyptians began to write in heiroglyphs, their burial ceremonies became more elaborate. Early burials were performed in shallow pit graves in the desert, and the hot, dry sand preserved the bodies naturally. As their mythology and religion developed and became more elaborate, however, so too did their burials. To prevent wild animals from digging up the burials, shallow pit graves were replaced with brick-lined tombs; bodies were covered with animal skins and placed placed on woven mats. The brick structures became more elaborate and varied with the status of the deceased. Because these bodies were now in tombs without the benefit of the natural drying process of the hot sand, they began to rot and decay. While the natural preservation of the hot sand in the desert may have spawned the idea of mummification, Egyptian religion required it, so burials in these tombs forced the Egyptians to devise a means of preserving the dead.

Central to the religious beliefs of the ancient Egyptians was the myth of Isis and Osiris, in which Isis’s husband, Osiris, is killed by their evil brother Set. Set tricks Osiris into climbing into a box, seals him into it, then drowns him by throwing the box into the Nile. Isis, the bereaved wife, searches for and finds the body of her dead husband and is determined to give him a proper burial on Egyptian soil. It is from this myth that the crucial elements of Egyptian funerary practices derived. Like all myths, this one revealed important truths about nature, the universe, and life after death, and many beliefs of the ancient Egyptian funerary cult can be derived from it. The chest that exactly fit Osiris was the precursor of the
anthropoid coffin, which is shaped like the deceased and is intended to protect the body. The importance of a proper burial on Egyptian soil is emphasized by the efforts that Isis made to find the body of her husband, and to make sure thatit was complete, so that when she spoke her magic words, Osiris would resurrect in the Netherworld. He kept the same body after death that he had during life, so mummification was essential if the deceased was to resurrect and spend eternity in the Netherworld. Here we see a myth answering important questions about life after death.

Mythology, religion, and to some extent philosophy went hand in hand in the ancient world, but the Egyptians did not make a clear distinction between them. All three kinds of thinking try to answer questions about the universe, the nature of humans, and life after death. Mythology answers these questions with stories about the lives of the gods that are not meant to be taken literally. Myths take place in what is sometimes called “primordial time,” the time before time began, before calendars and clocks existed. Religion, on the other hand, answers the same kinds of questions but takes place in chronological time. The biblical story of Moses and the Exodus, for example, presents Moses as a historical character who actually lived on Earth at a particular time.

Philosophy, like religion and mythology, also attempts to answer questions about the nature of the universe, but unlike religion, which requires only faith,or mythology, which is not to be taken literally, philosophy requires proof. We know the ancient Egyptians had a rich mythology and a complex religion, but there is debate about whether they engaged in philosophical thinking. There are no philosophical papyri and no texts carved on temple walls that present carefully reasoned philosophical arguments. Of the three kinds of thinking that deal with basic questions about humans and the universe, this book is about mythology. As you will see, there is an overlapping between religion and mythology because mythology inevitably deals with the gods.

The reader shouldn’t be surprised to read different myths giving different answers to the same questions. In Heliopolis, for example, the priests told one story of how the world was created, and in Memphis they told quite a different story. These myths sometimes competed, but the people didn’t believe both versions: They tended to believe the version from their hometown.

Prom at World's End (Open RP)

June Sweeny took her duties as prom chaperon very seriously. On her back she kept a Super-Soaker water canon, strapped beside an industrial cattle prod. These were really more for show than for use on any students and their dates.

Prom crashers on the other hand, couldn't be guaranteed the same courtesy.

And, since the Senior class had brought Portal-Devices for everyone, June privately thought anyone would be mad to stay after coming uninvited.

So, she stood near the punch, firing up the prod with a crackle of electricity everytime someone came for a cup or two, earning laughs from most of her charges. It was going to be a good evening.

A Night on the Town

Ambria showed up at the Loft dressed in a nice black dress, accented by a metal necklace she'd crafted herself. Her hair done up nice, her nails freshly manicured - everything about her appearance said 'date', but she wasn't getting her hopes up too high. After all, her and Gabe were from different worlds and they'd been set up by Imogene - for all she knew, Gabe wasn't even really looking for anyone. And he had problems going on -- he was in physical therapy for his leg, staying with Finch in Manhattan. He had enough going on really without having to worry about the whole social business of dating.

She was determined to just enjoy the evening - she'd show Gabe a fun restaurant in her area that served some typical American food he might enjoy trying. They'd talk about this-and-that, and see if they had anything at all in common. And if things went from there, well... then they would. And if they didn't, that'd be alright too. At least she'll have made a new friend.

Imogene and Fritz are watching Vibius for the evening- she's given them instructions to help her son with his science fair project, and not to let things get too out of hand. Hopefully that'll all work out fine-- but she's instructed them to call if there's any problems.

Right now she's just going to settle in and watch the Doors, waiting for Gabe's arrival.

Adventure Summary 3: 'Cooked And Eaten'

After a thrilling encounter with scorpions, the party takes some time to take stock of injuries and see to the wounded. As Nadira has asked for trophies in the form of scorpion parts, the party pries open one scorpion and harvests some meat and pieces of scorpion exoskeleton.

After being assured that the meat is edible and considered a delicacy, an attempt is made to cook it. One attempt turns into several, but eventually the scorpion meat is cooked and eaten, with only a few party members choosing to abstain for reasons that remain their own.

Adventure Summary 2: 'Where, O death, is thy sting?' -OR- 'Fun' with scorpions.

The party sets off in search of ADVENTURE and scorpions. Upon learning that scorpions are attracted to vibrations, they attempt to vary their pace and rhythm as they travel. This results in a peaceful journey until they discover the partially-eaten/dissolved body of one of Nadira's fellow Order Of The Scorpion members, identified by his scorpion tattoo. Included among his possessions were a small vial of scorpion antivenom and a document detailing funerary rites appropriate to Kehmet.

While the body was being properly laid to rest, a trail was discovered that indicated that the deceased had a companion. In the process of following this trail, the party were ambushed by another group of scorpions!

The combat that followed saw several party members wounded and one poisoned! Thanks to a timely application of antivenom, the poison was not fatal. After dealing with the scorpions, the party is now regrouping and tending to the wounded.

Please feel free to comment on plans or other suggestions here.

Please note that comments are open to characters currently involved in the Kehmet adventure only.

Gabriel in New York (Closed RP)

Gabriel stood in the loft in the clothes he had once worn in Germany. If he had lost any weight in his illness, he had gained it back in his time with Al. With his ponytail, his handmade shoes, his turtleneck and his tan slacks he looked less like a normal American than he thought, despite his efforts. One hand was on his cane as the other gripped some bread Arisa had baked him to present to Mr. Lark.

He paused before the Door. He was not sure it was polite to just walk through. He was not sure it would be effective to knock. After a moment of deliberation, he rapped on the Door with the head of his cane. He had never been through Mr. Lark's door before, so this was safer as well as more polite. Then he stepped back and waited.

Lost child on the loose

"Hello? Anyone here?"

A tiny raven haired girl tiptoes into the coffee shop, looking for a friendly face. Or at least, looking for someone who could give her hot chocolate. She stands on tiptoe to get a look at the lettering over the counter, then wanders off to take a look at the squid tank.

"Can someone help?" she asks aloud, hoping someone will hear her.

new start

A young girl with silvery hair walks into the Loft and looks around curiously. She is carrying a number of bags and looks tired.
"A New Start", the guy who'd told her about this place had said, "a new start without all of those nasty memories everywhere." well, that's wasn't quite true as she carried the memories with her, but maybe being so far away from home would help her to forget.
It was going to be difficult though

Let Sleeping Heroes Lie?

There's a tow headed boy of about ten or eleven fast asleep on one of the couches in the Loft. He has an assortment of weaponry propped against the couch within arm's reach. Obviously not your run-of-the-mill human (though, in the Loft, they are the minority), judging by the long elf-like ears, Link is oblivious to the world around him.

Do you try and wake the young hero? It is getting late, after all. Perhaps you should try and send him on his way.

Or are you more apt to go through his things to see what is of value?

A Confused Girl

Chamille is not sure what to do. She is lost, scared, quite young, and from the 1960's in the southern part of the United States of America.

She ended up in The Loft after running from teenagers ganging up on her and threatening to beat her up. Confused about her surroundings, and the different kinds of people in the place, she sits down at a table and buries her face in her hands.

What was she going to do?

[OOC: I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty bored...anyone wanna help Chamille find out where the hell she is? I think she needs it.]

[Oh by the way: she's a vampire and a transsexual. Have fun with that. Befriend her. Make fun of her. Whatever.]

He's holding a sack at about waist level- you can't quite see into it somehow, but it looks full.

A sign reads... "Take a cracker from Santa's Sack!"

Those of you with dirty minds wonder if this is an intentional joke, but you reach in and pull out a cracker anyway....

OOC instructions:
1. Visit http://labarc.com/Cracker/ and pick yourself a cracker! Each one contains a hat, a little item, and a joke. Some items are useful, some are silly, some are a bit of a booby prize. There may even be some magical things.

2. Paste the results of your cracker in your journal! There's a text box under each cracker.

3. Post a comment here as a thread to play out the results of your cracker with others! Show your character opening the cracker up and the wackiness that ensues. See who plays along.

4. Profit.

Awkward Teenage Dancing for the win!

Ah, high school. Those were the days.

Tonight is the Loft Christmas Dance. Tinsel and holly and...a little bit of mistletoe!

Teenage characters, do you have a date? Are you going stag? Come on in and join the party in your borrowed suit or Christmas dress. And for those who are a little older, you too can attend the craziness, either as a teenager in typical loft bendytime fashion or as one of the poor, unfortunate chaperons
