There’s No Place Like Home: Unlocking the Power of Real Estate Gifts with Lynn Ierardi
July 21 at 2 p.m. ET - Monthly Webinar
Follow the yellow brick road from “bricks and mortar” to “mission and impact”
Click your heels—we are not in Kansas anymore! For most donors, their greatest wealth isn’t sitting in a checking account; it’s in the assets they own – especially real estate. Yet for many fundraisers, discussing and accepting real estate can feel like a daunting forest of flying monkeys and "Wicked Witch" liabilities.
In this webinar, we’ll pull back the curtain on real estate gifts. You’ll learn how to identify high-potential prospects, engage them in strategic conversations, navigate the due diligence process, and guide donors toward a transformational gift. Whether the asset is a personal residence, a vacation home, commercial property, farm or vacant land, we’ll talk about how to uncover opportunities in the Emerald City.
By the end of this session, you will be ready to:
-
Spot the "Ruby Slippers" in your Donor Interactions and Database: Recognize key indicators of real estate capacity and use wealth screening to uncover prospects.
-
Speak the Language of the Land of Oz: Learn how to effectively introduce real estate gifts in donor conversations, proposals, and marketing materials.
-
Navigate the Cornfields of Due Diligence: Understand essential considerations from ownership structure to marketability to ensure a gift is a benefit, not a burden.
-
Master the "Wizard’s" Tax Strategies: Gain a clear understanding of how real estate gifts can help donors reduce capital gains and maximize tax benefits.
-
Avoid the "Poppy Fields" of Risk & Liability: Explore the strategies organizations use to accept real estate gifts directly or work with partners to manage risk.
