DMV ... sucketh.

Well, so here's what we've got so far....

The traffic ticket is paid- they dropped the warrant for my arrest' because apparently being a traffic criminal isn't as bad as all that, so it was only 25 bucks. That's the good news on that. The bad news is that the DMV kinda annoys the shit out of me. I rummaged around their supremely unhelpful website online, and found that if I needed a manual for snowblower operation or a form to apply for a medical need to have tinting on my car- I'd be in luck. To try and find simple things like directions to their Deptford office was impossible, however. They have this button by it that says "Get directions"... which of course, leads to a list of "Mapquest found these results". None of which actually... y'know... work. I've never seen Mapquest's 404 page before. Then I tried typing in the address manually - the DMV says that the center is located here:

West Deptford
215 Crown Point Road
Route 44 South and Mid Atlantic Parkway
(I-295 Exit 20)
West Deptford, NJ 08086

and then I get no results. Eventually I plod around with it until I realiize that I should just put the zip in along with the address and no town... and yes, it turns out that 215 Crown Point Road is in a place I've never heard of - Thorofare, NJ. This leads to an insanely complicated set of directions that makes me want to cry. So.... anyone around here ever been to the Deptford( maybe Thorofare?) Regional DMV center and want to give me easy-to-follow directions? I'm really bad at traveling to places I don't know how to get to, especially since the accident. It makes me all nervous. And I never was good with directions, and the results I got from Mapquest are insanely difficult to keep up with. Even better, someone want to come and drive me there? I'd love you forever.

A bit more rummaging around their website yielded a phone number - not for the regional center, they don't have phone numbers- but for the department in Trenton that supposedly deals with my particular problem. So I can try calling the number and being on hold for a few hours likely- and see if they can do it over the phone (which they likely can't, but you never know). I can do that today, anyhow.

In other news, Aus's work says they will see if they can retrain him for another job that he can do with his physical limitations. So he has to get his doctors to write up a complete list of what he can and can't do so that they can see if there's anything they can provide him with. Oh, and they never got the paperwork that the insurance company said that they sent on August 29th. I'm not inclined to believe the insurance company- they've said things like this before and the paperwork has never arrived where it was supposed to. So we have to call the lawyer and ask him to get up the insurance company's ass again about the supplemental income they're supposed to have been paying us. At lease we have Aus's work's fax number now, so hopefully the lawyer can make them just fax it over so we can actually get somewhere. Frustrating!

Sending away for all our records and everything too, so we can get that stuff together- then we can see what else we're elligable for. But things are looking up, at least- now we have plans and we're making some progress. It's still been really stressful, though.

But good news again! Yesterday, I stopped by my PO Box, and had some lovely things inside from LJ and RK Net friends who sent chocolates, CDs, letters, well-wishes, and all sorts of things. That really lifted my spirits - you guys rock. Thanks very much!
