Who were your heroes when you were a child?
Indiana Jones, all the way. I wanted to be like him. Fortune and Glory. Also, my Uncle Leon, the somewhat shady Teamster who told me things like "Stupid people are stepping stones on the way to success" and "We're smarter than 90% of the population. It's our sacred duty to get the best of everything." and "Never be afraid to say what you think. There's no use in worrying what other people think of you. All that matters is what you think of yourself."
Yeah... I had some interesting heroes.
Who are your heroes now?
Right at this very moment? Aus, and Ry and Rich. And yeah, still, Uncle Leon.
What do those people represent for you?
Aus- the meaning of true love, responsibility (he has way more of a concept of that than I do), the ability to do what needs to be done in order to have what you need (and yet, still manage to find time to do what you want), intelligence balanced with practicality and common sense, - so many other things
Ry- triumph in adversity, creative expression, using and developing talents well
Rich - people skills, good reputation, game mastery, balancing a busy life.
Uncle Leon- building yourself up from humble beginnings, being who you want to be, material and mental success
In what way do you strive to be like them?
Well, I do what I can. I see in them the perfection (or at least, the further progress) of traits I seek to perfect within myself. I don't know if it's a matter of 'striving to be like them', though. We're all works in progress.
