So anyhow, Aus and I were playing Bethump'd with Words (awesome game, by the way) and we couldn't stop laughing about the fact that Portmanteau words are when two words blend together and make a new word. It's like word sex.

Smoke and Fog get together because they have some things in common. Together, they have a relationship, and out of that relationship comes their bastard child, Smog, which has qualities of both its parents but stands on its own as a completely independent word.
