Ankle... pain... ow... money....
Well, today has been an interesting day. I went shopping today, first off. Never my favorite thing, but hey. First I stopped at Wal-Mart, and bought stupid shit for my brother Joe's birthday. Yes, stupid shit. Why? Because I can never think of what to get for him. He's got plenty of money, and lives by himself, so he doesn't have a lot of expenses. So pretty much anything he wants, he buys. Which leaves me pretty strapped for ideas. I decided to go with his hobby this year- golf. I got him golf balls, a golf towel that affixes to his golf bag, a little golfer magnet, tees, and a card. And because it didn't look like all that much, I got him a shamrock plant, too. I also picked up a book for me, because it has a bloody bullet hole on the cover, and I thought that was really spiff. It's called The Night Before and its by Lisa Jackson.
Went grocery shopping, too. Bought food, food and more food. Oh, and food. Then I came home and Aus called as per his usual daily 'I love you' lunch hour call. He was in a really good mood today because they had a nice luncheon for the employees- and it was profit sharing check day. Aus's share? 660 bucks! Woo-hoo! We're going to open the much-delayed savings account we've been planning on opening for like, ever- and then spend the rest like mad monkeys. Any recomendations for spiffy things? I'm thinking video games, dvds.... I was going to buy a dvd player for the living room, but my mother said she'd buy that so I didn't have to waste my money on it. Sweet. I think that was because I almost broke my ankle today and she was feeling sorry for me, though. Yes, ankle breaking... I was talking to Aus on the phone and walking into the bedroom to lay down and talk, when I tripped over this rug, turned my ankle to the side, and heard this noise like crackling celrey. Then there was the buttload of pain. I scared Aus and Mom to death because I -screamed-. It hurt -a lot-.
It turned all purple and swollen and nasty. I think I broke many blood vessles. Blargh.
My community is up to 40 members now. I'm very happy about that! =) I'm also in the process of getting into this LJ RP experience. Hopefully, it will be fun. So far, it looks like it will be.
I started reading Dream West last night. I love the imagery in it! Historical novels rock.
Friday Five
1. Do you like talking on the phone? Why or why not?
To Aus, at lunch. Otherwise, never. I don't like it because I prefer to speak in textual form. Odd, considering that I've been told frequently that I have a beautiful voice, but true.
2. Who is the last person you talked to on the phone?
Aus, at lunch!
3. About how many telephones do you have at home?
Three- one in the kitchen, one in the living room, and one in the rec/library room.
4. Have you encountered anyone who has really bad phone manners? What happened?
Yes, my brother Ron. He's like "Uh... what?" when you call him. It's just kind of funny.
5. Would you rather pick up the phone and call someone or write them an e-mail or a letter? Why or why not?
Email or letter. Because I write so frequently- I love text.
Books
1. What book is in your bathroom?
Crossword puzzles, hehe. My mother does them while she ...well, you know. Goes.
2. What book is in your purse/backpack?
No books in there. Chinese fortunes from cookies are, though. They're written.
3. What book is on your bedside table?
Dream West, the book I'm reading now.
4. What was the last book you lent someone?
Nightrunner series- I lent them to Ry.
5. What was the last book you lent out that someone brought back to you?
No one's ever returned a book I lent them! I have the worse luck with that.
6. What book do you have loaner copies of, solely for the purpose of foisting it on unsuspecting friends and relatives?
None.
