Sniffle
Just finished watching Oliver Twist . No matter how many times I watch that, musical or movie, I always cry when Bill kills Nancy. I think I enjoy the secondary characters of the musical much more than Oliver; in a sense, to me, the musical is not about Oliver himself but rather the circumstances and people who suround him. His own character is almost like a blank slate, reacting to those in his enviorment- he has the mutablity of young children who aren't quite formed yet. Sure, he gets a few good musical numbers- but I think the point of it all is larger than the story of a boy.
I think I might re-read the novel- it's been years since I've read it. Classics are good for the soul.
