A different setup this time, with a ground vehicle test. Great to see this kind of hands-on testing and validation taking place at our Tulsa Test Center! 👏
This past week, the senior design team laying the groundwork for Oklahoma State University's Electric Formula SAE team visited WindShape to test their un-sprung aerodynamic system and integrated suspension. Using cameras, smoke visualization, yarn tuft testing, pressure taps, and load cells, the team validated both suspension behavior and CFD simulations in a controlled environment. The aero package generated 46 lbs of downforce at 35 MPH and 98 lbs at 60 MPH, closely matching estimations from CFD data and reinforcing confidence in the design. This testing marks a major step toward a competitive and data-driven vehicle for the future team. The team's success wouldn't have been possible without the support from Phillips 66, WindShape, Webco Industries, and the Zink Center for Competitive Innovation.
