Serpent & Mist is a four-track instrumental EP rooted in sound system culture and built around steppers drum patterns and heavyweight basslines. Influenced by classic Hong Kong martial arts cinema and snake-based forms within Shaolin kung fu, the EP carries these references through melodic structures, instrumentation, and the intentional use of vocal samples as texture and punctuation.

Developed as a solitary and inward process during the Year of the Snake, the EP reflects a period shaped by discipline, repetition and renewal, which are present in both the sonic approach and the overall mood of the record. The tracks are designed with sound systems in mind, prioritising space, weight, and low-end presence.

After earlier singles and remixes, and following more than a decade spent primarily behind the decks as a DJ, this release positions Serpent & Mist as a natural extension of C Fyah’s long-standing practice in selection, live performance, and production.
