Dammnit Fayt, stop looking like Julidan! >_
OMFG. My lj layout actually has color this time around *gaspeth*. I don't think I've had color since the Sasuke layout waaaay back in September.
Well, since I'm updating anyways, I've finally made up my mind about Star Ocean III.
It's awesome.
Maybe not as awesome as The Second Story (it seems to have a distinct lack of Ashton Anchors, from my observations ^__^) due to a weak character here and a weird plot twist there, but for the most part it has that same kind of grandoise, sweeping, space opera plot. And the direction the plot finally takes when it decides to finally take it is one that makes you question the very nature of playing RPGs. Really. I think I mostly like this game because it's questioning it's own relevance and existance. That takes... um... something.
Also, unlike Star Ocean II, Till the End of Time actually seems, y'know, beatable. I find it somewhat ridiculous that I'm nearly level 80 in my Rena game, yet I can't beat anything in the Barkers' cave. Or maybe I'm just pathetic, I don't know. Anyways, the point is Star Ocean III is not making me tear my hair out in fustration. This time when I started hitting the 300,000+ HP bosses I was prepared thanks to this little thing I'd like to call Orichalum (am I even spelling that right?), otherwise known as the "OMG! MY WEAPONS ARE SUDDENLY KICKING ASS! AM I CHEATING OR SOMETHING!? HOLY F***ING SHIT 1500 ATTACK POWER AT LEVEL 30!?!?!?!? *anuerisms*"
And stuff. Yeah, all I've been doing for the past two days is playing Star Ocean. ^__^;; Well, I had an excuse today. We had a freakin blizzard that shut down a good portion of the city. (Gregory, being the idiot that he is, decided to come over today and trudged through all this snow to watch me play Star Ocean. I was glad for the companionship, but... well, let's just say I'm glad he didn't drown in a snowbank or something o_O).
It's weird, today I spent a few hours leveling while listening to Bonnie Tyler, when I realized that this time last year I was doing exactly the same thing, except I was playing .hack//. Wow, does my life ever need some variety or what? But then again Christmas break RPG marathoning is somewhat a tradition of mine ever since I spent every free waking hour playing FFVII waaaay back when I first got my PS1. I mean, if Christmas break ISN'T for playing an unhealthy amount of video games, what is it for?
And why the hell does the main character of Star Ocean III look so much like Julidan? Everytime he looks at someone through his bangs, or draws his sword, or mopes like an angsty person I have to blink for a moment because my brain keeps thinking his hair should be red. >___< Everytime I think I've gotten over the similarities in apperance, Fayt goes and, like, has Julidan body language all over again. T_T
Or maybe I'm just too obsessed with Ryuuguu. o__O
