NaNoWriMo!

New lj layout. As pretty as he was, Sasuke will never be as pretty as Omoidasu... and I was getting pretty sick of the old layout anyways. ^___^ This layout features the lovely Omoidasu Tristezza in full gothic regalia. The image used was drawn by me and, um, the rest as usual is just layers and layers of brushes from echoica.net because I am hopelessly obsessed with that place.

You know what sucks? Okay, so I'm all over my little depression/anxiety thing I went through last month. I, in fact have an appointment at the IWK mental health center on the 19th of October. So I'm all ready to go back to school and then... I get a flu.

Again. Because that one I had two weeks ago wasn't bad enough. I feel like crap, but I worked my fingers to the bone this afternoon making jewelry for our business in ENT12. Wire and chain hurt if you handle them for several hours. I'm sure this revelation isn't a surprise for anyone.

Random Heroic Pose
I am DULY excited for NaNoWriMo this year. I will make the 50,000 word mark no matter what! Ohohoho! I have my story completely and meticulously plotted out. Seriously, it took ten pages of notes and random quotes but I can firmly say that I know exactly what is going to happen in all 27 chapters of the story.

I was inspired by the movie 'The Man Who Would Be King' (which I watched with Gregory on Sunday night), and decided that I'd like to tell a tale of a historical figure from both sides of the story. The story is about an elven military commander named Artemis Fable who travels to the land of Houthia and makes a deep impact on the people. The story is told twice over- first, from the point of view of a Houthian shrine maiden who eventually becomes his wife and secondly, from the point of view of his cynical and intelligent best friend. Both narrators are in love with Artemis, and both narrators more or less experience the same thing in Houthia, yet the stories are drastically different.

I'm having so much fun with the character of Artemis- since the entire story is in first person, the reader will get virtually no insight into Artemis' actions. In one story, Artemis will be a blindingly brilliant heroic figure, in the other story a totally dishonest, ammoral, self centered jerk.

Although I know all the details of the story, I'm still a bit sketchy on the characters. I have the character of Artemis Fable himself completely worked out, as well as the two narrators, Faelia Isadora and Dorian Lyre. My biggest problem now is fleshing out some side characters. I have one- Artemis' second in command, Ira Efimvir, who is a strong female character to balance out Faelia's inherent suckiness. Also, Dorian's father is writing himself rather pleasantly. However, he only really shows up in Dorian's flashbacks. I need a lot of Houthian extra characters to help better illustrate how a few simple actions makes Artemis a ledgend to these people.

*sigh* Well, I've still got nearly a month to figure all that out. I could theoretically sit down and write it all now. At it's heart, the story only needs Faelia, Dorian and Artemis to be well characterized in order to work. That Efimvir is so strongly present in this planning stage was actually an accident. I needed someone who connected with both Dorian and Faelia besides Artemis. Dorian and Faelia do not play large parts in each other's stories. Faelia is intimidated by Dorian because he seems icy and unapproachable; Dorian resents Faelia because Artemis ignores him and treats him badly if it means winning Faelia's favour. Artemis is a point on conflict between them, since they are both in love with him. Efimvir, however, teaches Faelia that she doesn't have to be weak just because she's a woman. Also, Efimvir and Dorian become close just because they're the only ones handling damage control for Artemis' idiocies.

*blinks*I love this story. I can't wait until November because I want to write it so badly. >______<

Hey, this is mental health awareness week. And my birthday also falls within this week. Personally, I find that hilarious. ^___^

PS: Worship my Julidan avatar! I made it using the lovely art Dawn drew my for my birthday! Thanks again, Dawn! *dances*
