Whee. *enthusiasm faked*
Okay. Time for the happy post!
Had an excellent weekend, though I feel both jipped and horrible for not making it to Caily's uber-Christmas service.
On Fri. night a bunch of us (Leslie, Caily, Adam, Justin, Natasha and Strickland) went to Colin's house for some good, old fashioned geek-fun(TM), then headed up to my place for BAD DUBBING MST NIGHT! (which is becoming quite the tradition).
On Sat. I slaved away at work (but found a *BRAND NEW* ElfQuest book. Man, I love that series ^ ^), but got paid. I bought to 'Pirates of the Caribbean' DVD only to discover that my PS2 has qualms with some DVDs. o.O I then went to some uber-church with Leslie's family because her mother was performing as an Alto in a chior-christmans concert.
... which was absolutely ASTOUNDING. Their accompanists were amazing and there was a guest classical guitarist whom Leslie is intent on taking lessons from (he teaches music at one of the local universities). The second last piece the chior sung was an interesting mixture of The First Noel and Pachabell's Canon. I know. Doesn't sound like it should work, but man... wow... I was suitably stunned. ^ ^
On Sun. Leslie and I went... TO THE MALL!!!
Shopping on Sunday feels... strange.
Bad strange.
Yes, it's convinient during Christmas season, but I couldn't imagine stores being open on Sunday every day of the year. Especially not with the way Sunday buses run. -.-;;
So... I guess that I'm against Sunday shopping. o.O For the most part. I mean, those Downtown shoppes should stay open like always. And restaurants, coffee shops, ect. And maybe add Grocery stores into the mix- but as for major retail, department stores and the malls- twelve hours a day, six days a week is plenty enough.
La la la.
I bought the first .hack game ('Liminality' kicks so much ass, though I sold my soul to //SIGN already). And, on a whim (Gregory and I were bored and waiting for the bus. *This* is why Sunday shopping is BAD people), I bought a second hand copy of 'Tales of Destiny'!
I. Like. Having. Money.
Whee. Material Goods!
'We are living in a material world
And I am a Material Girl!'
And, before the weekend was over I squeezed a movie in. Gregory saw 'The Last Samurai' on Saturday and reported that it was so good that he cried at least 5 times (Wad), so he and I dragged Rebecca out to see it last night.
Rebecca. You are a really hard person to get a hold of. get a cell phone or something. I think you need one more than I do.
The movie... was really very good. And oh so Japanese in some part. When the dude committed Sepekku... there were Sakura blossoms falling gently in the wind behind him. It was all very beautiful with some amazingly subtle imagrey/character juxtapositions that I quite enjoyed. And I really liked the wussy, delicate, effeminate emperor. ^ ^
So, it's nearly Tuesday. *sigh*
Leslie and I had a really long conversation about 'Game Over' screens today. I think my favorite would have to be Metal Gear Solid's. C'mon, people, it's so classic. Say it with me:
"Snake? Snake!? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!"
My least favorite... Final Fantasy Tactics, because I always resetted before I had a chance to see it. ^ ^
