The safest place for evidence is... in my satchel!
My room mate is playing Phoenix Wright for the first time, and I keep periodically hearing things like: "WHAT!? That's illegal!", "No, the Law doesn't work that way!" and "Phoenix, you can't just pick up any evidence you find laying around!!!!" being yelled from the dining room. XDD
