THE YEAR WAS 1778, OH I WISH I WAS IN SHEREBROOKE NOW
WARNING, I AM GOING TO RANT ABOUT THE BUKSER FESTIVAL FOR THE NEXT FEW PARAGRAPHS
Oh boy, oh boy. Our first day at the festival with NO CRAPPY SHOWS (though our crappy-to-awesome show ratio right now is only 2-7). :D We felt good about *every* performance today, which is an insanely AWESOME feeling, especially considering we have *four* shows tomorrow- three on our least favorite stage, and one on the ALIANT STAGE (for those not living in Halifax and not familiar with the Busker Fest, the Aliant stage is the *BIG!!!* one. NIGHT SHOW. ALIANT STAGE. HOLY GOD YESespecially since we fudged our last Aliant Stage day show).
We're generally appealing to the exact demographics we figured we'd hit: girls between the ages of four and fourteen, geeky teenage boys and other fire spinners. We have a lot of seven year olds worshiping us now, by the way, so expect a sudden influx of ambitious female fire spinners in, oh, twelve years or so. O__O
I'm mostly just satisfied that people *GET* our finales. The fight always goes over well because it's, uh, fucking awesome and all. BUT I LOVE IT. WHEN PEOPLE GET THE VIDEO GAME THING. When a guy in the audience yelled "MOOOORTAAAAL KOOOMBAAAT!" during the hat speech today, I was all like: "Awesome! Unless you like Sub-Zero, then you can leave." and some ten year old boy in the front of the crowd stood up and shouted: "SCORPION IS THE BEST!!!!! :D" And, oh, people laugh at all the humour in our Storybook finale WHICH MAKES ME FEEL PERSONALLY GOOD SINCE I'M DELIVERING ALL THE LINES. :D :D :D
We played 'Barret's Privateers' today and the audience ate it up.
Aliant's film crew is going to be taping a few of our shows and sending us copies after the festival, so hopefully I'll be able to get videos of all the best parts of our show for those of you who, uh, actually care but don't live in Atlantic Canada. ♥
I'm very thankful that the Chronicle Herald ran this bizarrely inaccurate article on us a few days ago, since it gave Rebecca one of her best lines. I mean, given a choice between being set on fire and jumping in the Harbour... well, ANY HALIFAX NATIVE would immediately choose the fire. *solemn nod*
*SHUTS UP ABOUT HER EXCITING LIFE*
No, seriously, this girl (who'd earlier gotten us to sign her arm) ran up to Leslie in the Historic Properties food court yesterday and asked her: "ARE YOU FAMOUS!?!?!?"
EDIT: Adam made us Macaroons. ♥ I-I have the best friends ever.
OTHER EDIT: ALSO, PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN HALIFAX. Just come down whenever you can SERIOUSLY, because every performer in the festival this year is *fucking awesome*. I haven't seen many of the other shows yet, but from what I've seen? This is the first year I've been *honestly* impressed since... okay, well since Team Ryouko's first year. :P BUT MY POINT STILL STANDS. This year we have Japanese clowns and a snake charmer and a guy juggling live bear traps and, uh, Andy Zapp in a purple unitard? :O
