Listens: Another Termina; Chrono Cross

After only one day as a Bar Tender, I can make a Ceaser with my eyes closed. :P

Ow. I hurt pretty thoroughly. Yesterday was my first day of work at Chinatown and I worked really fucking hard. Harder than I'll probably have to work in subsequent weekends. I just forgot how much I'm a wussy, out of shape computer nerd and not meant to do that much heavy lifting for that long. D: BUT ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, EVEN THOUGH THE MANAGEMENT'S GOING TO HELL I STILL LOVE THIS JOB. There's parts to it that are tedious, but I can't see myself getting sick of it the way I got sick of Teletech. Just, here's to hoping the managers actually buy the groceries on the shopping list Rebecca left with me. We're low on Pineapple juice and Clamato. Without those, we pretty much have to cut the drink list in half.

BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THAT, IT'S SELF INDULGENT MEME TIME! The first is the icon meme stolen from a_white_rain, and the second is an explanation of the interests on my profile page- a meme "everyone" was tagged for by ew_younerd:

01. Default

It's, uh, me! Yay! I happen to this that this is a totally sexalicious picture- it's the profile picture on my Facebook account as well.

02. Oldest
I have a few icons that I've had since before I got my paid account. I'm not sure which is the oldest, but I would never get rid of any of these under pain of death.

I'm pretty sure I actually made this in MSPaint.

A screenshot of me from Ashley and I's super-awesome Ninja video that we made for Film & Video class in gr. 12. Ashley's got a matching one.

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL TEAM GAI AVATAR. AND IT IS FULL OF LOVE AND HEARTS. But sekritly, I made this back in the day when we all thought Neji was probably dead.

Ashley (drummer_food) made everyone in "The Posse" (our dorky, tightly knit group) custom-made Harry Potter icons back when she first got her tablet. The joke is that I'm- physically, at least- probably the least threatening person in the world.

03. Newest

Davey Jones. ♥

04. Saddest
This is the avatar I use when I'm pretending to be sad:

This is the avatar I used when I'm actually sad:

Both courtesy of Dawn (kaiousei). She coined the quote on the first one and drew the second one (18th birthday gift!).

The avatar that MAKES me the saddest is this:

It's the combination of Wolfwood who is a TRAGIC SAD CHARACTER and Townes Van Zandt's 'Highway Kind' which is SAD DEPRESSING SONG. T___T

05. Happiest
THREE WAY TIE!

06. Angriest
I can't decide between these two:

Although I always use this one:

07. Cutest

Leslie wins drawing.

08. Sexiest

JULIDAN! I had to say it or the universe would implode sry.

But for realz?

Revolver Ocelot. ♥

09. Funniest
Honestly, even though I've had it for about a year now, this one still makes me laugh everytime I look at it too closely:

- because I have a disgusting sense of humour.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

10. Favorite 'ship(s)

JULIDAN/OMOIDASU, OTP. I love this avatar so, so, so much because it's such a CRAPPY drawing and is in a context that no one except people I know in RL understands but it's just so PERFECT and so THEM and everytime I look at it I go: "SDKHSDFHLKS OH THOSE TWO, WHY SO GAY? WHY SO DUMB? MUST. WRITE. RYUUGUU."

I try, but I don't think I can stop liking this pairing. ):

I actually don't like this avatar very much, but it's difficult to come by 01/02 screenshots so I take what I can get.

IN THREE SECONDS, GAMBIT WILL BE IN A COMA.

I'm just kidding, guys.

STFU. I HAVE MORE OTP ICONS THAN I THOUGHT.

And it's not a "pairing" icon, but those two are OTP. It's humoursly kinda-implied canon!

11. Favorite Fandom

MY FAVORITE FANDOM IS MYSELF.

12. Most Used
It's a tie between:

I can't resist using badly-made, thumbs up!Mulder icon at any given opportunity. I also find myself in a lot of online situations where hugs are required. And, of course, Guy reading Cosmo could BE my default icon- I find it to be applicable in pretty much every situation.

13. Favorite That I Made

I have no practical purpose for keeping this one around. I've been so close to deleting several times because I just don't use it for much. However, I love looking at it because it's quite lovely, so it gets to stay.

There's also this, which I made back in the days when I sucked with Photoshop and had just learned all about Brightness/Contrast and Hue/Saturation. Considering how much all the avatars I made at that time sucked, I think this is actually an exceptional piece of graphic design. I like the cropping, I like the colors, I like the way the 40% opacity text works over the base and I even like the completely unnecessary squiggles along the left border.

14. Favorite at the Moment

COULD IT BE ANYTHING ELSE?

15. Favorite Overall

OMG, REPEAT. But yeah, this'll always be my favorite avatar. It's inoffensive to look at, it's me in a nutshell (BIG HAT, BIG ARROGANCE, BRIGHT COLORS, CAPS LOCKS) and it's full of memories.

16. Do your icons make a statement about you?
Yes, that's why I have such a hard time using icons made by other people unless they were made specifically for me. :P

17. Of which fandom do you have the most icons?
DC Comics.

18. Of which 'ship do you have the most icons?
I have three icons with Fye and Kurogane on them, but one's not a "ship" icon. Which would make it tied with my two Booster/Beetle avatars.

WAIT. WAIT. DO MY TWO SNAKE/OTACON AVATARS COUNT. ONE OF THEM'S KIND OF GAY.

19. How do you categorize your icons?
Fandom - Subject

20. Are your icons made mostly by other users?
Pfft, are you kidding me? I think I have two made by Ashley, and the rest are mine.

21. Do you make icons?
rosecolordglass

22. Are they any good?
They're not fantastic, but they're better than a lot of the crap out there. I'd say I'm somewhere smack dab in the middle. I LIKE TO THINK, HOWEVER, THAT MY ICONS ARE AT LEAST ORIGINAL/UNIQUE. Although that's unlikely with all the blue exlusion layer I use, :P

23. Animated icons are...
Great! Although I prefer them for humour.

24. In general, I think icons...
- are costing me $40 a year from LJ. OH GOD, WHEN I SAY IT LIKE THAT IT'S PATHETIC.

20th century dictator slash: My friends and I we. Uh. Y'know, joke about 20th century dictators a lot. And how they loved each other. Sexually. Yup. That's completely, totally normal of us. Blame suriyawong

alchemy: This had nothing to do with me being a Fullmetal Alchemist fan and everything to do with me being a fan of Dom Claude Frollo who, in the novel Notre Dame du Paris was obsessed with alchemy. Also, it has to do with the way Charles Jung used the alchemical process as an allegory for personal carthasis and development. And then, consequently, my favorite characters in Xenosaga were named after this process. YEAH, I'M STILL UNBEARABLY GEEKY, but not for the reason you were assuming.

astronomy: RE: my username

big hats: I think this one's a little self explanitory. I'm know 'round these parts as: "Hey, I know who you are. You're the girl with the big hat!"

bounty hunters: Of the space variety. When I was a kid, I wanted to be Boba Fett.

busking: I do this professionally. Street Performance, that is.

caffiene: Can anyone in North America live without it at this point?

christianity: OOPS, I'M OUTED AS A CHRISTIAN LOL. But I'm interested in Christianty from a secular perspective as well. Y'know, the way 99.2% of all Christians suck at their own religion. I'm a neutral observer in my own faith. Ha ha ha.

dc is gay: Why do you think I read it instead of Marvel?

dragons: Something of a lifelong obsession of mine. I wasn't a Unicorn kid.

emperor palpatine: If you took everyone else in Star Wars and put them together in a blender to make a concentrated milkshake of AWESOME, they still wouldn't be even a fraction as awesome as Palpatine. But that's only because you'd have to subtract major "awesome" points for Anakin, Mace Windu and the "mitochlordians" concept. D: D: D:

But really, I adore Emperor Palpatine.

evangelion: Yeah, it's my favorite anime (EXCEPT FOR MAYBE DIGIMON ♥), but I actually don't know why I feel the need to have it in my interests. I think it's some form of: "OH YEAH, STFU I STILL LIKE IT LOSERS" protest against the vicious backlash the series has suffered in recent years. Oh, Evangelion, if you weren't so popular, anime fans would probably still love you.

fanfiction: I read my first fanfic off the internet when I was eight years old.

Oh, was I young and innocent once? o___O

fantasy: I've not read many good fantasy books in my life, but a Fantasy setting is still by far my favorite for a novel... in theory. Most of what I plan to write in my life will be fantasy. I blame Tolkien- he was a strong influence in my childhood. Also, movies like The Dark Crystal and Willow.

fire: Well, I like fire and all but mostly I mean the kind of fire you busk with. WHICH, BY THE WAY, IS NOT FAKE.

geeks: The best kind of people around. Also, the worst. Occasionally simultaneously.

gypsies: The romanticized sort, at least. I blame this on Victor Hugo as well. Gypsy is what I'm going for when I get dressed every morning; I'm less sucessfully at that these days than I used to be.

hamlet: The original emo-kid.

history: I love it. I wish I could get a history major, but unforuntely I want to be an English teacher. D: Also, my Mom's a history major and it would be just too weird to go to the same University my Mom went to and then major in the same subject. :P :P :P

hitler/stalin: WHAT ELSE DO YOU THINK RUSSIA IN THE WINTER WAS ALL ABOUT? Also, uh. suriyawong.

html: Less so than I used to be, but I'm still fond of web design. When it doesn't make me want to die.

i lost: SHIT, I LOST. See, the EVIL SEKRIT PLAN here is to make anyone who looks too closely at my userinfo lose. If you don't understand what I mean by this, uh. I'm not exactly certain how to explain.

jingle bells: It's my "thing". I used to sing this song often at inappropiate times. Er, you had to have been there. ALSO, IT'S A THANKSGIVING CAROL, NOT A CHRISTMAS CAROL. I MEAN, IN IT'S ORIGINAL INTENT.

julidan baranohr: The most awesomely awesome character that was ever awesome with awesomeness.

literature: BECUZ I'M A SNOB. I CAN'T JUST READ NORMAL "BOOKS" LIKE THE REST OF YOU PLEBES.

lobsters: No, seriously- the way they're kept in Grocery Stores makes me sad every time I walk by them! D: Mostly because they're adorable. ♥ There's one at the restaurant where I work that has a barnacle growing on him right between his eyes. It's so adorable it's almost hard to look at.

middle aged men: Gendo Ikari, Mr. Benett, Solid Snake, Oliver Queen, ect. ect. I should probably include "old" men as well because: Geoffrey Rush (well, late 50's), Colm Wilkinson, Revolver Ocelot ♥ The point is, I'm very fond of male actors and characters who are getting a little past their prime. Sure, I fail at having hormones anyways in the first place, but generally I think men over fourty are MUCH more attractive than "young, hip, youngsters".

musicals: I love them. I love to memorize them and get into them with my friends and then decide on who "plays" who and then sing and act them out on long walks in the summer. Or, like, perform Javert's suicide off a dock at the boat club. Speaking of Les Mis, it's kind of, definitely what got me into musicals. I blame, rebecca_riot (who will forever be the best at crossdressing as a crossdressing Jean Valjean).

ninja: Ninjas are cool, it's an undisputable fact. They can jump rooftop to rooftop and get their friends free cable. That's bad ass. And yes, this actually have everything to do with Naruto.

objection!: I like Phoenix Wright. I like pointing at people in a accusatory manor and shouting: "OBJECTION!!!"

octorape man: OH MAN. I DON'T EVEN KNOW. Y'KNOW. I wish I could find the post where I archived the original conversation, but I don't think that would help. This is like, the DEFINITION of an inside joke because it is completely and utterly inaccesible to anyone but me and Ashley. I don't even think any of our other rl friends actually GET it, and we've all known each other for so long we're pretty good at "getting" each other's sense of humour. It had something to do with Stanley Kubrick's film of Lolita and Quitly running naked down the hall from Humbert Humbert. But the it also had something to do with tentacle rape, and Sasori, except that I'M actually Octorape Man (IT EES MAH SEKRIT IDENTITY) and Ashley's my sidekick, Honey Manwhich (WHICH IN ITSELF IN AN INSIDE JOKE ABOUT ARCHIE SLASH AND MY DAD'S AMAZING TIMING). Except that Davey Jones is sort of what Octorape Man should be too, except emo (although he prove himself VERY GOOD at tentacle rape in At World's End) and... and...

Octorape Man is awesome, the end.

one punch!!:

And then "One Punch!" became a JLI catchphrase.

philosophy: I lie, most philosophy pisses me off. But I like it in theory.

pirates: We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs! Drink up me hearties, Yo Ho!

post apocolyptic metaphorical bullshit: Like what Evangelion, AKIRA and Xenogears are! I eat that stuff up!

psychology:I like trying to unravel the way the human mind works. I do it frequently to people I know. The study of psychology, however and unfortunately, appears to do little but teach people how to forget how to relate to another human being.

pyramid head ♥: I shouldn't have to explain my interest in Rapey Cakes.

quick build an insta-barricade!!: In the musical Les Miserables, Enjolras appears the have a barricade in his pocket because how the fuck else do the students put it up, take it down, and put it back up so quickly? And so Grantaire said: "Hey, Enjolras, is that a barricade in your pocket, or are just happy-" and Enjolras said: "Shut up and pass out already you miserable drunk.

... and Grantaire said: "); ♥"

ryuuguu: One day this will be the greatest fantasy series you have ever read.

samuel r. delany: My favorite author. Woefully underrated Sci-Fi/Fantasy scribe who won a million and one Nebular and Hugo awards, hung out with Asimov and ilk, aided in the evolution of the sci-fi genre and was largely responsible for the existence of Cyber-Punk and yet has been completely passed over by pretty much everyone everywhere maybe because he was a bisexual black man with a lot of facial hair who did far too many drugs. I mean, even for the sixties he did too many drugs. You can definitely tell in his writing, but oh. I love every word of it.

Except for that part in Dhalgren near the beginning with the running and the pen clicking.

sequential art: This is how pretentious people say they like comic books.

shut up tenten: Not that I have anything against Tenten, but back when Dawn, Tim and I used to waste hours playing the Naruto Fighting Game, we spent a lot of time making up what the characters were saying when Dawn didn't feel like listening to something 287638 times to translate. Tim noticed that everytime we finished a Team battle using Neji and Tenten, Tenten would ramble on chipperly for about 36.5 seconds while all Neji had was a sharp, three word interjection near the end of her victory speech. Tim figured that since he was Neji, he was definitely, obviously saying: "Shut up, Tenten!" And now, I don't CARE what he was actually saying.

snaaaaaaaaake!!!!: You ever die in Metal Gear Solid?

superman is a dick: Well, he is.

thecollectiveangstoftheseries/lee: W_R and I need to get a life.

video games: UH, YUP.

violin: It sounds nice, but mostly it's because I play it.

who watches the watchmen?: The haunting catchphrase from Alan Moore's graphic novel Watchmen. Because I can't just SAY I like Watchmen in my interests. Also, I like the meaning behind the phrase.

wiffle bats: There's that scene in South Park where Cartman takes Kyle out into the middle of Stark's Pond to kill him, but because he brought a wiffle bat, "it's gonna take a while". That is my favorite scene in the entire series.

writing: Well. Duh.
