Argh!
I came up to the library early because I wanted to scan stuff and make ICONS! Icons featuring Remington and his snazzy hat (sorry, I'm really, REALLY on a Sonic and Knuckles binge rigght now. It happens at least once a year- the last two can be blamed entirely on Adam XD).
I have come to the conclusion that the Floating Island must be the land of snazzy hats. Come on- name one character on the mainland of Mobius who wears anything even RESEMBLING fashionable headgear? (and no, Sonic's fedora on the drop-dead gorgeous cover of #52 does NOT count). Okay, well Rotor wear a ball cap, but I'd call that anything but snazzy. And let's not even go there concerning the Secret Service berets. They're following fashion tips from Geoffrey St. John, I think that says it all...
Okay, now turn your attention slightly upwards and to the left- not only are we treated with Remington's Park Ranger wonder hat, but also the uber-snazzy anime-Knuckles hat that Rmeington passes on the his grandson seven time removed (though Knuckles only actually wears it for one panel at the end of Knux #6, but we don't talk about that! Shhh!). And ALL the fire ants seem to be equipped with some out of fashion doohickey on their heads to boot. And, I guess Spectre's strange Legion-wear helmet thingamer counts to some extent.
... o.O I have an unhealthy obsession with hats.
Okay, I've been thinking about this for a while, but I think that I might start writing Sonic Fanfiction again.
"Again?" you ask, after scanning my ff.n account and noticing a pointed lack of Sonic fiction. Well, you see, way, way, waaaaay back in the days before I had a coherent grasp of the internet (hell, before the internet even had a coherent grasp of itself) I used to write Sonic fanfiction. In fact, I've been writing the stuff since I was seven years old. unfortunately, when Apple Ding, my 1982 Mac (in BLACK AND WHITE GLORY) crashed a few years back I lost it all.
But I've been thinking- due to the fact Archie does not know what the hell it's doing with the series, and Ken Penders is letting his attention stray (into his own series, yes, but I still maintain that Sonic is a lot more important XD), a lot of plot points have popped up in the past two years before dissapearing promptly- often in the same issue they were introduced!
Now, these loose threads range from brilliant, to interesting, to workable, to dubious, to just PLAIN stupid, but there were a few that just never went anywheres, despite the MASSIVE potential.
#1: Zonic, the zone cop. We haven't seen hide nor tail of him since he forced our blue blur into unwilling Patricide back in... um... one of those Super Specials (I prefer NOT to remember them, thank you very much!), when he revealed himself to be yet another version of Sonic himself. Okay, that WAS somewhat expected... what I didn't get was why the weight of this revelation was so... well, weighty.
I've been wondering ever since if maybe, just maybe "Zonic" is, in fact, a future incarnation of "Sonic Prime".
"Just how did you wind up with a gig like this?" Sonic demanded as Zonic left. Well, it would certainly explain the zone cops silence and tellingly forlorn expression.
But then, who exactly is it that Zonic reports to? o.O
#2: Elias and Geoffrey.
Okay, there was just something, something, something there that I desperately wanted the writers to work with.
But they didn't.
Okay, well maybe they tried.
Um, what am I trying to say. Oh yes, I think that Elias and Geoffrey relationship had potential to be one of the most interesting in the entire series. The two seemed to have a bi-polar relationship. When they met in Kunx 19-21, they were both suspicious of each other and. Then, all of a sudden upon Elias's return to the Kingdom, they're suddenly buddy buddy. Until Elias flips out and pulls rank on Geoffrey... and turns around to accept help making important decisions from him a few issues later? o.O
The exchange in which Geoffrey says something along the lines of: "Elias, you suck at being heir. Let me make your decisions for you." is basically what spurred this sudden fanfical inspiration.
Why the hell did Geoffrey make that offer? Why the hell did Elias accept? And what the hell came of it?
#3: The source. Okay, so Sally went in, saw Sonic die and decided being Queen wasn't worth it. o.O *blinks*
So, did Elias ever "join with the source?" And if so, what did he see?
#4: What exactly went on while the Dark Legion were suspended inter-dimension? Did it suspend their existence? There seem to be a lot less descendants of Dimitri than descendants of Edmund.
#5: Um, hello? Kunckles? I know that you were happy to see your dad and all. And I know that the cancellation of your series was impending... but, honestly, if one of my parental units revealed that they'd tampered with my genes, I think I'd be pretty pissed off. I mean, okay. I understand that it might take you a while in this case... but, still.
Yes, I want to write about the relationship between Knuckles and Locke. Oh, Locke is such a terrible, terrible father...
#6: Soultouch. Does it apply to all Echidnas, or only Gaurdians? If it applies to all Echidnas, why was Lara-Le abnle to get over Locke and hook up with Wynmancher (who I worry is an alcoholic since he seems to be drinking in every single apperance he makes)?
Or maybe this is just an excuse to write a Knuckles/Julie-Su fic. I really didn't like the way they got together in thr "First Date" arc, despite the interesting and revealing characterizations it potrayed.
#7: "Tails is the Chosen One".
I honestly don't think anyone involved knew what was going on when they started this way, way, WAAAAAY back in the Tails miniseries, and now that it's quasi-resolved, I still don't think anyone knows what was up with it.
Um, blame it on Lemon Sundrop Dandelion poisoning. ^ ^
#8: When Knuckles went crazy (and green!) for a year, I really don't think Ken milked the angst like he could have. Cue fanfiction.
#9: When Mr. Sommersby told Geoffrey that he thought he was a ghost of his father... did anyone else find that line somewhat chilling?
I fear that, as much as I hate St. John, I may end up writing a lot of fanfiction about him. -.-;;
Hmm... that's a heck of a lot of writing. Not to mention the other ideas I have floating around in my head (which should really be thinking about Illuminati, NOT furry fanfiction): Julie-Su when she was still with the Dark Legion; Remington kicking butt and taking names (and dragging Harry along for the ride); lots of stuff about the Brotherhood because... um... I like writing councils of useless old men arguing. ^ ^
Whew. So, that along with Illuminati and Cessation is what's going to be keeping me busy for the next million weekends.
I just bought Zone of the Enders. And I played X-2 this weekend- um, more on that. Maybe. I ranted my socks off about it to Gregory on Sun. night. -.-;;
