OBJECTION!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh, what the hell am I drinking? I mixed two shots of gin into orange juice, pomegranate concentrate and year old cherry-sauce which, really, is not nearly as tasty as it sound but goddamnit, I'm not wasting those shots of gin no matter how much of a sugar headache this is giving me!

So, I haven't been present on the internet a lot lately. There's a myraid of reasons for this, and none of them have to do with school. Mostly, I've been writing, reading and watching stuff. I finally:

1. Watched the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender (which made a_white_rain's night, apparently) and was pleased to discover that it was just as good as I hoped it would have been. ^__^ I kind of want to catch the second season on TV before the third season starts, but at the rate it's going I may end up watching it on my computer next time I have a free afternoon.

2. Read xxxHOLIC, which I've been avoiding for years for some inexplicable reason. I've been under the impression that I don't like CLAMP's "new stuff" for a while now, but really- I love xxxHOLIC and I adore the WTFery of TRC to bits and pieces and ridiculousness. I think it's mostly their late middle-period stuff I can't stand- I hated Legal Drug, was bored by Angelic Layer and couldn't even bring myself to finish Wish. Although I love Chobits and Clover, so...

OKAY, OKAY- I ADMIT IT. I LOVE ALMOST EVERYTHING CLAMP DOES WITHOUT EXCEPTION. T___T

Is it just me, or is there something startingly exceptional about the relationship and character development in both xxxHOLIC and TRC? I think I might have ranted about this before, but as much as I love CLAMP, I never really expect a whole lot of complexity out of them. Not that their characters are one-dimensional by *any* means, it just seems that in the past they relied more on blunt metaphors and representations than honest "cause and effect" development. Of course, there were the odd exceptions- Karen (X/1999) and Nokoru (CLAMP Campus Detectives) always stick out in my mind as being two of the most honestly realized CLAMP characters (YES. NOKORU).

Er, example: the main characters of Legal Drug irritate the *hell* out of me. Like, a whole lot. And yet- Watanuki and Doumeki have pretty much the same dynamic and I just absolutely *eat it up*. Although that may be an unfair example considering Legal Drug is burdened by the fact that fan-service is one of it's key components; it can't really help but feel forced. And while I doubt that the Watanuki and Doumeki subtext is unintentional (WHEN IS THE GAY EVER UNINTENTIONAL IN CLAMP?), it's still just *subtext*, which allows their relationship to be more... awesome? I have no clue.

OR, UH. FYE AND KUROGANE. WHO KEPT ME READING TRC FOREVER UNTIL THE STORY GOT GOOD AND SYAORAN AND SAKURA BECAME AWESOME. Or, hell, the fact that I ship Syaoran/Sakura about 100000 times more in TRC than I ever did in CCS. well because I was kind of all about the eriol/syaoran har har har

3. Bought a Nintendo DS, which is the prime reason that I DO NOT NEED THE INTERNET ANYMORE.

AND THE REASON I DO NOT NEED THE INTERNET ANYMORE IS BECAUSE:

... or more accurately, I have the second Phoenix Wright game, but I spent the last two days beating the first one on a loan. It literally ate my life for a good seventy two hours. I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT THURSDAY AND FRIDAY EXCEPT DRAMATICALLY YELLING 'OBJECTION'!!!!

I'm having a difficult time finishing the fifth case, however, because I just can't get into it. The 'Turnabout: Goodbyes' case was just so insane and intense and seemingly hopeless and full of ascots and it put me through the emotional wringer and I was all yelling at the screen and being like: "NO, YOU ASSHOLE. I HAVE THE BULLET. I STOLE THE FUCKING BULLET FROM YOU WHEN YOU TASERED ME... ASSHOLE!" and "NOOOOOO, EDGEWORTH! I DIDN'T MEAN TO SEND YOU TO THE CHAIR! :O :O :O :O WRY!?!?!?"

But in the end, it's not the irrelevance of the case that actually bothers me- it's Ema. I miss having Maya by my side in court enough, it would be cool if her one-case replacement DIDN'T make me want to stick my hand in a garbarator.

Although the fifth case DID give us Edgeworth's disturbingly PINK! office. Complete with disturbingly OBSESSIVE! PINK! chess board (WTF, EDGEWORTH. YOU AND YOUR UNECESSARY EMOTIONS.)

Also, Tetris. ♥ It's a menace to society! If we all had Tetris in our pockets, nothing productive would ever get done. Damn those silly Russians!
