Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name and email address (provided directly or via Google OAuth sign-in)
  • Password (stored hashed, never in plain text) — not applicable if you sign in with Google
  • Billing information (processed securely through Paddle, our payment provider — we do not store your credit card details)

Search Data

When you use CelerSearch, you index documents (posts, products, pages, etc.) into your search instances. This data is stored on our servers to power your search functionality. We do not access, analyze, or use your indexed content for any purpose other than providing the search service to you.

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • Search query volumes and document counts (for billing and quota enforcement)
  • API request logs (for debugging and abuse prevention)
  • Instance health metrics (for maintaining service reliability)

Website Analytics

Our marketing website may collect standard analytics data such as page views, referral sources, and browser information to improve our website experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provision and manage your search instances
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Enforce usage quotas and service limits
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing receipts, service alerts)
  • Provide customer support
  • Monitor and maintain service reliability and security

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your indexed search data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond delivering the search service.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your search instances and data are hosted on secured servers. All data is encrypted in transit via SSL/TLS. Each search instance is isolated and accessible only through your unique API keys.

We perform automatic backups of search instances to ensure data durability. Backups are stored securely and are only used for disaster recovery purposes.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate CelerSearch:

  • Paddle — payment processing for subscriptions and billing. Paddle acts as our Merchant of Record and processes your payment details directly. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
  • Google OAuth — optional sign-in method. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account. We do not access any other Google data.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — bot protection and CAPTCHA verification on forms. Cloudflare may collect interaction data to distinguish humans from bots. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Hetzner, AWS, and DigitalOcean — infrastructure providers that host our application servers and search instances. Your data is stored on servers operated by these providers.
  • Email delivery service — to send transactional emails such as account confirmations, billing receipts, and service alerts.

These providers only receive the minimum information necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion or cancellation, we will delete your personal data and search instance data. Billing records may be retained as required by applicable tax and accounting regulations.

7. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the Service you subscribed to (account management, instance provisioning, billing)
  • Legitimate interests — service security, fraud prevention, abuse detection, and improving our platform, where these interests are not overridden by your rights
  • Legal obligation — retaining billing records as required by tax and accounting laws
  • Consent — where you have given explicit consent, such as for optional analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located in the EU, the United States, and other regions where our infrastructure providers (Hetzner, AWS, DigitalOcean) operate. When data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), or other approved transfer mechanisms to ensure your data is protected in accordance with GDPR requirements.

Under the GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
