My great passion for film music is becoming more and more important in my professional career as a cellist. In addition to the cinema productions “Retour en Alexandrie” and “Jakobs Ross”, I was also asked to play the solo cello for the final scene in the highly acclaimed television series production “Davos 1917”.

2023 was a year in which I discovered a completely new musical field for myself. With professional support, I threw myself into the “Home Studio” project with great enthusiasm. I immersed myself in the basics of the art of recording and editing and I am suddenly able to work with people from all over the world in a very uncomplicated way. A first production music album has already been released by Warner Chappell Germany and three more albums are in the final stages.

The mosaic called “Tilo”, which was installed in the previously empty tympanum on the north facade of the Federal Palace in 2023, was accompanied in its creation by the artist Rob Lewis and documented with his camera. I was given the honor of musically complementing this path with six cello tracks, which I improvised, played and recorded myself.

Seven musicians from different countries in Europe were invited to perform at the legendary Tomorrowland festival as part of the Symphony Of Unity concerts. I was sponsored by BMW Switzerland to represent Switzerland. In addition, a unique performance took place in the Dubai desert as part of the festival in May 2023. The live recording of the celebrated concert later in Belgium in July 2023 has already been viewed over 2 million times on YouTube.

Reyn Ouwehand and I met in 2019 in the band of Stephan Eicher’s “Homeless Songs” tour. Our love of tonal, melodic improvisation and our fascination with reducing music to its essentials and thus achieving an immediate purity and honesty connected us from the very beginning. In recent years, this encounter has resulted in a very special, recurring collaboration for me.

With Stephan Eicher and the «Homeless Songs» at the Opéra Comique in Paris and at the KKL Lucerne

On his new great album “Homeless Songs” the most famous Swiss chansonnier presents new, economically and acoustically instrumented songs, which according to Stephan Eicher “don’t know where they belong”. It is a great pleasure for me to contribute to these valuable songs for some concerts of the tour as part of the band.

Gala concert at the full Theater Chur with the Swiss Army’s Symphonic Brass Orchestra

It always gives me great pleasure to play the musical portrait of Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798) by Johan de Meij. This colourful work, in which eight musical scenes tell of arrest, imprisonment and escape from the infamous prison Piombi in Venice, is definitely something special for me. One last time this year with the Rüti Tann Symphonic Brass Orchestra!

After three years I finally returned to Oslo and was allowed to play a duo concert in the beautiful Steinway Piano Gallery, which tells of the friendship between the two composers Edvard Grieg and Julius Röntgen.
