Mr Catyah and I went out yesterday for a quick trip to the garden center to get some flowers to brighten up the yard! Of course we both wore masks and did our best to get in and out and stay away from other shoppers.

Last day of National Art Making Month 2015 -- I know I've had a lot of fun making art, I hope you've had fun looking at it!

I colored another picture from the Coloring With Your Octopus book this afternoon -- I hope you can see the details, but it's the first time our heroine meets her new friend at the pet store. She can already tell they're in for a lot of adventures together.

Hey, friends who color, check this out! Shopping today at my favorite bookstore (Magers & Quinn Booksellers in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis), I found the newest addition to my growing collection of coloring books.

It's called Coloring With Your Octopus - A Coloring Book For Domesticated Cephalopods by Brian Kesinger.

Another giraffe today! This one is drawn in pencil on scratch paper during break time at work, inspired by the cover of my current read, 'Circling the Sun.' If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it.

Today's picture was inspired by a co-workers calendar, which has a baby animals theme. August's picture is a fawn hiding in the tall grass, which I've admired all month. I finally got around to drawing it today, and maybe I'll give the picture to co-worker Beth tomorrow, if she wants it. :-)

I was flipping channels on the TV this afternoon, looking for something to watch, and came across a movie called 'Kung-Fu Panda.' The panda was getting a talking to from a wise old turtle.

That inspired the drawing today -- I wasn't sure what sort of turtle, but then I remembered that my BFF's sister had gone to the Galapagos Islands on a trip once and saw the giant turtles there. So I looked up Galapagos turtles and based mine off the pictures I saw there.

The trim of his shell turned out a bit red for my taste -- I grabbed the mahogany colored pencil instead of the dark brown I was reaching for, but I decided to go with it. :-)

Today's art is inspired by a friend's parakeets, they attended our singing group rehearsal this morning! (Our group leader was bird-sitting for their owner.)

I never remember which is which, but their names are Lewis and Clark, and they cheeped and tweeted along with our music. :-)

As with my previous drawings, I wish I could draw and color them as beautiful as they are in real life.

I decided to look close to home for inspiration today -- my own Sunny the cat!

Here's the picture I drew (using colored pencils, especially Crayola Metallic Bronze):

Sunny was kind enough to sit still (on the bed) for me while I drew him, but when I decided to take a picture so you can all see what he looks like in real life, I had to follow him around the house before he finally sat down (near his food dish). :-)

Wow, just wrote a LONG post about how I woke up in the middle of the night with heart attack symptoms and that I went to the ER with my husband and they did all sorts of tests and it wasn't a heart attack, but probably gastric reflux. I've been on Prilosec for years, but I guess maybe it stopped working. The ER doctor (who was SO nice) told me to double my Prilosec dose and see my own doctor tomorrow to discuss what (if anything) to do next.

But I can't even blame LJ for eating my post, I was NEARLY done and accidentally hit Backspace and wiped out the whole damn thing.

Anyway, I'm okay, though the experience punched my anxiety buttons and now I'm going to have to really think about what I eat and drink before I eat or drink it. :-(

So I'm super grateful that it's not a heart attack, and the doctor was really nice about it not being a heart attack -- she said always tells people who come in thinking it's a heart attack and then are embarrassed that it's not that they did the right thing by coming in. (Hint, it's usually women who react with embarrassment like that.)

Any suggestions for changes to my diet are welcome, as well as positive thoughts.

Here's today's artwork! Monday's Cecil the lion got so many compliments at work, I got a couple of requests: a giraffe for Laura A. (last night's picture, which she loved and asked me to autograph!) and a zebra for Lori P.

So, that's what I worked on during morning break, lunch, and afternoon break -- and Lori liked it so much, she asked for it to be autographed, too!
