Christian def. Random Orton by Disqualification
Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Christian

CHICAGO – If at first you don’t succeed, hire a legal team … and fight dirty.

That’s exactly what Christian did to help him finally regain the World Heavyweight
Championship from Randy Orton.

During a tooth-and-nail battle that could have gone either way, Christian spit right
in the face of the champion. The dastardly deed caused Orton to snap and deliver a
blatant low blow to Christian. The move earned Orton an immediate disqualification.
And, as per the special match stipulation put in place by Christian’s legal team,
Orton lost his title.

Afterward, The Viper launched a brutal assault on the new champion, first smashing
him in the head with a TV monitor, then RKO-ing him onto the announce table.

But that wasn’t enough for the furious WWE Apex Predator. As he walked away from
the ring, he hesitated, then headed back to deliver one more vicious RKO to Christian
onto the announce table for good measure.

Christian’s victory in Chicago was the culmination of a long, twisted road.

Although Christian captured his first World Championship in his 17-year career at
Extreme Rules 2011, he lost it to Randy Orton just five days later. After that
heart-breaking night, he mounted a relentless quest to regain the title. But the
results were the same each time. At WWE Capitol Punishment and Over the Limit,
Christian failed to dethrone Orton.

How will the seething Viper respond to being spit in the face and having his title
taken from him all because of a contract clause? Can Christian hold onto the World

antagonized World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, Sheamus nearly
toppled The Viper in an explosive main event and Mark Henry continued to
rage against the machine.

Sheamus attacked the Money in the Bank Ladder Match competiton
Interrupting Sheamus, Christian revealed that his legal team added a new
stipulation to his World Title Match against WWE’s Apex Predator at Money
in the Bank. If Orton gets disqualified or there is more “bad officiating,” he
automatically wins the coveted title (Preview). SmackDown General Manager
Theodore Long then broke up a heated exchange between the two intense
Superstars, making the main event between Sheamus and Orton.

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton def. Sheamus by Disqualification
The ultra-resentful Christian – No. 1 contender to Randy Orton’s World
Heavyweight Title (Preview) – joined the SmackDown announce team, giving
himself a front row seat as The Viper battled Sheamus. And just when it
looked as if WWE’s Apex Predator was about to defeat The Celtic Warrior
with the RKO, his Money in the Bank adversary attacked, giving Orton the
win by disqualification. As Sheamus delivered the big boot to Christian,
however, Orton recovered and hit the Irish Superstar with a post-match RKO.

At the start of the night, Christian was stunned that SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long would not grant him the World Heavyweight Title Match that he felt he earned last week (WATCH). In fact, Long revealed he wasn’t sure who would compete for the title, suggesting that perhaps Mark Henry would get a bid. Later, the only thing Long was certain of was that Christian would face Sin Cara.

When the match began, Christian showed some frustration as to how to best deal with the International sensation. Yet in the end, he tore a page from the playbook of his friend Edge, and put away Sin Cara with a spear.

Sheamus crashed the World Heavyweight Championship contract signing
At odds for weeks, Christian and World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton were prepared for one more battle at Money in the Bank. With legal counsel at his side, Christian pointed out a clause in the contract stating that if the referee makes a bad call at Money in the Bank, he receives an immediate rematch. However, moments after Orton signed the contract, Sheamus stormed the ring and attacked both Superstars before Christian could officially sign. After assaulting both Superstars, The Celtic Warrior tore the contract to shreds, raising question if there will be a World Heavyweight Title Match at Money in the Bank.

Christian got another chance at the World Title
Although Teddy Long said the referee’s decision at Capitol Punishment is final, he agreed to give Christian another chance at the World Heavyweight Championship if he could defeat Kane in the night’s main event.

Kane def. Christian by Disqualification
After a controversial loss to Randy Orton at Capitol Punishment, Christian was given the chance to earn a World Title Opportunity by Teddy Long if he could beat Kane. But during the battle, Mark Henry came calling, brutally attacking Kane, resulting in an immediate disqualification.

Christian & Mark Henry def. World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton & Kane
Hope is still alive for Christian. Although his loss to Kane in a World Title qualifying match hit him hard, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long gave him a second chance. Due to Mark Henry’s interference in the qualifying bout with Kane, Long ordered up a tag team battle. If Christian’s team won, he’d earn a World Title opportunity.

Fighting tooth-and-nail, Christian and Mark Henry took on The Big Red Monster and World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton. Sacrificing himself, Christian took an RKO from Orton. But before The Viper could capitalize, he instantly found himself in Henry’s waiting clutches and the victim of The World’s Strongest Slam.

There are losers and there are sore losers. And then there are R-Truth, Christian
and The Miz. After coming up empty last night, the three complained to SmackDown
General Manager Theodore Long until he agreed to arrange a Six-Man Tag Team
Match main event pitting WWE Champion John Cena, World Heavyweight Champion
Randy Orton & Alex Riley against Truth, Christian & Miz.

WWE Champion John Cena, World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton & Alex Riley
def. R-Truth, Christian & The Miz in an Elimination Tag Team Match

While members of the WWE Universe were busy exercising their rights, R-Truth, Christian
& The Miz were busy exercising their mouths. The three came up short at Capitol Punishment
the night before and had complained to SmackDown GM Theodore Long, who finally arranged
a match for them against WWE Champion John Cena, World Heavyweight Champion
Randy Orton & Alex Riley.

The only question that remained was under which stipulation would the six fight? The WWE
Universe determined they would battle in an Elimination Match (79%), far surpassing the
one fall to a finish (15%) and 20-minute time limit (6%) options.

When the bell rang, the tension reverberating between the six Superstars was clearly evident.
Hot off his massive victory over Miz, A-Ry appeared pumped. He took the fight to Christian and
his former boss like a veteran ring leader. Although the aggression was impressive, Riley found
himself the first to be eliminated. Next up, Miz and R-Truth would fall in close succession,
leaving Christian to tackle both Cena & Orton.

Captain Charisma grew so excited at having eliminated the World Heavyweight Champion
that he appeared not to remember The Champ remained in the bout. As Christian occupied
himself with Cena, The Viper slithered in and nailed him with a surprise RKO. The move
allowed the WWE Champion to snap on the STF, forcing Christian to tap out and handing
Cena’s squad the victory.

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton def. Christian

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Controversy always exists at the seat of Government and WWE Capitol Punishment’s World Heavyweight Title contest was no exception.

Although Randy Orton managed to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, the official did not notice that Christian’s foot was clearly underneath the ropes. While Captain Charisma tried to filibuster the official to reverse the decision, Orton vetoed the argument and found retribution by nailing Christian with the World Title.

The rivalry between Captain Charisma and World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton has become more heated than a Congressional healthcare debate in recent weeks. The Verizon Center in our nation’s capital set the stage for the most intense contest between the two Superstars yet. In their previous meetings, a great deal of mutual respect existed between the two competitors, however, this particular bout was more about proving which ring warrior is truly the more worthy champion.

When the dust settled, there was no obvious answer due to the controversy that surrounded the official’s three-count. While Randy Orton remained the World Heavyweight Champion, if judges were to score the bout based on the action and competitiveness of both Superstars, it could possibly have been a split decision. The two ring warriors battled back and forth, trading the advantage and trying to best the other’s strategy. In the end, only one thing remained constant other than the determination of both competitors - the RKO can strike in the blink of an eye.

Usually the RKO signifies the end of an opponent’s attempt to defeat WWE’s Apex Predator. Christian’s foot clearly being underneath the ropes during the official’s count asked the question of what could have been for Captain Charisma? Before the official could review his own decision, Orton hit Christian with the title, returning the favor for two separate occasions leading up to this match.

This rivalry once highlighted the mutual respect between the two Superstars; but it has since become much more personal. Finally winning the World Title after 17 years, only to lose it five days later, and failing to regain the title at WWE Over the Limit, has left Christian bitter and selfish.

That second defeat at the hands of WWE’s Apex Predator triggered Captain Charisma to renounce his Peeps and essentially become a Superstar on a mission with one primary objective – regain the World Heavyweight Championship. Orton’s goal, however, was to show Christian that whenever the two clash, The Viper will come out on top. Neither Superstar definitively completed their objectives at WWE Capitol Punishment.

With the World Title controversy surrounding our nation's capital, Captain Charisma will no doubt exercise his right of free speech in hopes of turning the tide in his World Championship campaign on SmackDown, Friday at 8/7 CT, on SyFy.

WWE Slams It's Way To Giant Center

Let’s get ready to rumble! “WWE Smackdown” is coming to Hershey’s Giant Center Tuesday. Fans will see superstar favorites Christian, Kane, and Randy Orton, among others in action. There will even be some diva representation from Natalya and Alicia Fox. The show will be taped and broadcast at 8 p.m. June 24 on SyFy.

Expect drama, and lots of it, as Randy “The Viper” Orton faces off against Christian in a non-televised match. The two have been locked in a war over the title of World Heavyweight Champion since Orton claimed the title from Christian, who had only had the title for two days.

The battle for the title has seen once good guy Christian turn heel, reject his fans, and embrace his dark side. Here he talks about what it’s like to go evil, lose a title, and endure all the physical bashing in the ring.

What got you into WWE?
I was a lifelong fan growing up. I played hockey growing up in Canada and I’d fallen awkwardly into the boards and broke my shoulder. I was stuck in the house for 8 to 12 weeks and wasn’t allowed to go to school. So I was stuck in the house by myself and flipping through the channels and stumbled on the WWE and have been hooked ever since. As time wore on I realized this was something I wanted to do in my life, to go out and perform in the WWE like the superstars I saw perform.

Any advice for WWE hopefuls?
I would say the main thing to do is make sure you get the proper training, make sure you can do what we do properly. It’s a long tough road. You have to take it seriously and really, you have to dedicate your life to it.

How did you train for WWE?
When I was going to college I was going Saturdays and Sundays and basically spending a good five hours in the training center in Toronto. Little under a year I had my first match and I went out and started networking, and just started branching off into Michigan into upstate New York. Did a little bit of work in Japan, and was lucky enough to be seen for a scout for the WWE at the time. At the time they were doing training camps at the head office in Connecticut and I was invited to one of those with 10 other guys and got to go there for a week and perform and work out there.

Which do you prefer, being a heel or a baby face?
I think I just kinda go out there, I don’t ever go too far... I go out there and I do what I do and I never change what I do. I’ve always tried to keep a lot of my own personality in what you see on television, so it’s kinda of just an extension of myself.

Did you expect to have the huge amount of fan support you did after winning the Championship?
It was overwhelming, to be honest I think that people just saw it as a guy who went out there every week and put everything on the line, no matter what the circumstances. I’ve always worked hard and tried to leave it all in the ring. I think they just appreciated that (win) coming from an underdog perspective.

What did it feel like having the title taken away so quickly?
I worked 17 long years to become the world champion and then to lose it just 5 days, it was heart breaking, you know. It kinda opened my eyes in a lot of ways. Gave me more drive than ever to regain it.

Are you ever going to unseat The Viper?
Yeah I plan on doing it, I plan on coming to Hershey the World Heavyweight Champion.

You recently disowned all your Peeps (fans)...
There was a big uproar from the fans, my Peeps, when I lost the championship. I really sat back and looked at it, and these are the same people who voted for Randy Orton to the match and they’re the same people who cheered when he won. I took matters in my own hands ... as far as I’m concerned, if I win it will be for myself this time.

How do you deal with the violence in the ring?
There’s no way to really prepare for it, anything can happen at any time. You just have to be aware that it can happen. You have to make sure you’re in the best physical shape possible. You just try to avoid that. Sometimes you can’t.

I know your best friend, Edge, had a serious neck injury that’s caused him to retire.
It was shocking [when Edge was hurt]. It stemmed from neck surgery that it had happened years previous. I know it just caught up with him, just the wear and tear on his body. It was shocking, of course if you know it can happen and I knew he was having a bit of issues with stuff on the things... and they called him back and said look you can’t do this anymore. And of course it was shocking, but if he didn’t retire he may have had serious nerve damage or paralysis if he’d fallen the wrong way.

Were you a little scared to go into the ring after that?
I never go in there with any fear that it may be my last time in the ring, I take it one match at a time.

What is it like, traveling everywhere with the WWE?
That’s the great thing about what we do. We get to see all the different cultures. I’m lucky enough to go to Japan and even Australia and New Zealand.

Do you ever get to really explore these areas? Or is it just work, work, leave?
It’s pretty hectic, but you try and to go out anyway. You try to take in the culture, you never know when the opportunity may come again.

What is the best thing about being in the WWE?
Performing, that’s why we do what we do. You can be dead tired from jet lag from an overseas trip and you don’t feel like you’re dragging your feet all day long. But as soon as you hear that music and you hear the live roar from that crowd it all goes away.

What are your plans for post WWE life?
I think that I’ll always be involved in some capacity with WWE. I hope to give back when my career’s over. I’m not going to quit anytime soon. It’s a great thing is that there’s always new challenges. I think there’s always some capacity be involved in WWE.

Capitol Punishment Preview

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Christian

What was once a boyhood dream to capture the World Title has now transformed into a destructive obsession. And after turning his back on his loyal Peeps, a jaded Christian prepares to battle World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton at WWE Capitol Punishment.

Christian tasted ultimate glory for a brief moment in time, only to have it snatched away as quickly as it had entered his grasp. Just five days after he captured the vacant World Heavyweight Championship in a heroic match with Alberto Del Rio at Extreme Rules, GM Theodore Long and the WWE Universe chose Randy Orton to face him in his first title defense on SmackDown. Later that night, The Viper reigned supreme over the new champion, crushing his lifelong dream without warning.

The two Superstars would then face-off in a championship rematch at WWE Over the Limit. But, in a classic bout that could have gone either way, WWE’s Apex Predator once again triumphed, leaving Christian to pick up the pieces. Still, the hard-fought battle made one thing clear to the defeated grappler: He knew he could beat Randy Orton.

Competing in a World Title No. 1 Contender’s Match against Sheamus and Mark Henry the following week on SmackDown, Christian had The Celtic Warrior pinned. But, because the referee was busy getting Orton out of the ring – after The Viper executed a retaliatory RKO on Henry – he could not make the official three-count. Moments later, Sheamus delivered the big boot and captured the victory instead, once more ripping away Christian’s hope of facing Orton at the top of the mountain.

When Orton faced Sheamus for the championship one week later, Teddy Long made Christian the special guest referee. That proved to be too much for Captain Charisma to take. Moments after Orton retained, Christian stunned the WWE Universe, attacking him with the World Title.

The next week, the resentment-driven Christian renounced his association with his Peeps and made a title match with The Viper. He then attacked Orton yet again, allowing Sheamus to capture a non-title victory over the World Heavyweight Champion. As a result of the dual attacks by Christian, it was later revealed that The Viper suffered a concussion. What factor this will have on their pay-per-view showdown remains to be seen.

Sheamus earned the opportunity to compete for the World Title
Despite the fact that Randy Orton was diagnosed with a concussion, he made it clear he wanted immediate physical retribution against Christian. However, because GM Theodore Long had not received Orton’s official medical clearance, he refused to allow The Viper to compete on SmackDown.

Interrupting Christian’s subsequent taunting of the World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus made it clear that his non-title victory over Orton one week ago should have earned him a World Title match. As a result, Teddy Long decided that Christian and Sheamus would face off in the main event, giving Orton a ringside seat. If The Celtic Warrior won, he would be added to the World Title Match at Capitol Punishment this Sunday.

Christian def. Sheamus
Just when The Celtic Warrior looked ready to execute a superplex to Christian off the top rope, his crafty opponent dropped back and caused Sheamus’ head to smack against the steel ring post. Seizing the opportunity, the No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship jumped into the ring and quickly pinned his Irish adversary. As a result, Sheamus was denied an opportunity to join the World Title match this Sunday at Capitol Punishment.

When Randy Orton jumped into the ring moments after the bell, Captain Charisma fled up the ramp. Nevertheless, The Viper sent him a powerful message by punting the war-torn Sheamus in the head. Will a concussion keep WWE’s Apex Predator from overcoming the resourceful Christian this Sunday?

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton confronted Christian
World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton will just have to wait. After a second consecutive week being attacked by a resentful Christian, The Viper goaded Captain Charisma to the ring with vengeful intent. Before he could attack, however, Raw’s anonymous GM interrupted and informed Orton that he could not allow him to compete until Sunday at Capitol Punishment due to the fact Orton had suffered a concussion during Christian’s latest attack.

Christian’s snide smile, though, would be short-lived. Guest Raw GM, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin emerged to inform Captain Charisma he must face Rey Mysterio right then and there.

Rey Mysterio def. Christian by Disqualification
Really, CM Punk? You and your cowardly New Nexus cohorts are going to ambush Rey Mysterio as he fights off Christian? Weak.

Unfortunately for Rey, that’s precisely how things went down as the high-flyer battled Christian, even after the match had ended. When Captain Charisma was disqualified for refusing to abide the referee, he continued to punish Rey. The Master of the 619, however, fought back until Punk and his disciples ambushed him. Christian then had the audacity to hit the Killswitch on Rey, regardless. Double weak.

In a shocking start to the night, Christian said he’s out to win the World Heavyweight Championship for no one but himself. He went as far as calling the WWE Universe completely and utterly clueless.

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton accepted Christian’s challenge to a match at Capitol Punishment
After Christian revealed he is finished doing things for the WWE Universe, Teddy Long – and anyone else for that matter – Christian reneged on Randy Orton’s invitation to come to the ring and face him for attacking him last week. Instead, Captain Charisma challenged Orton to a match at Capitol Punishment.

Sheamus def. World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton in a No Disqualification Non-Title Match
The night ended just like it began with Christian making it known that it’s all about him. As World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton battled Sheamus in a brutal No Disqualification Match, Captain Charisma interfered. Although Orton thwarted the Killswitch and forced Christian from the ring, Captain Charisma refused to go away. Then, just like last week, Christian smashed Orton in the head with his World Title. Seizing the moment, The Celtic Warrior covered the fallen champion for the pinfall.

Once again, Christian thrust himself into the limelight, costing Sheamus his World Title opportunity before making a powerful statement to World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton.

One week after coming up short in a Triple Threat No. 1 Contender’s Match, Christian triumphed over The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry with the Killswitch.

Addressing the WWE Universe after the match, Christian made it clear that he didn’t blame the referee or anybody else for what happened to him one week ago. But, he did make it clear that he should be facing Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship instead of Sheamus. When SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long emerged, Captain Charisma took a play from the GM’s book, asking the WWE Universe if they would rather see The Viper face him or The Celtic Warrior – or even a Triple Threat Match between the three explosive Superstars. Although Long wouldn’t oblige his appeals, he opted to make Christian the Special Guest Referee in the World Title main event.

From the start of the World Heavyweight Championship Match between Randy Orton and Sheamus, it looked as if special guest referee Christian would call things right down the middle. However, in WWE, things can change just like that.

When Sheamus inadvertently ran into Captain Charisma and attempted to pin WWE’s Apex Predator, Christian failed to finish the three-count – clutching his arm in apparent pain. But, after a frustrated Celtic Warrior shoved Christian, the temporary official blasted him with his supposed injured arm, paving the way for the reinvigorated Orton to hit the RKO and successfully defend his title.

Then, as the eight-time World Champion celebrated his triumph, Christian stunned the WWE Universe, smashing Orton with the World Title before shouting at his prey that “he can beat him.”

SmackDown GM Theodore Long made a Triple Threat No. 1 Contender’s Match
After their epic championship showdown at WWE Over the Limit, Christian congratulated Randy Orton on his victory and asked him for another rematch. When Sheamus and Mark Henry took issue, Teddy Long came forth to lay down the law. Listening to the WWE Universe – who insisted in one voice that Christian still deserved a title opportunity – the SmackDown GM declared that the three challengers would battle it out in a Triple Threat main event to see who would face The Viper.

Sheamus became the No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Title
Christian, Mark Henry and Sheamus clashed in a Triple Threat Match for the right to face Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship. SEATTLE – Amid the outrageous calamity of WWE Over the Limit, World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton triumphed over Christian, crushing Captain Charisma’s hopes at regaining the illustrious World Title he has worked for his entire life.

The critical match between two of SmackDown’s finest grapplers transcended the epic championship struggle that the WWE Universe was expecting. From the opening bell, it became a personal battle, fueled by the lifelong desire of two Superstars to be the absolute best. Orton, a third-generation brawler, was destined from birth to make himself part of the squared circle elite. Christian – the onetime starry-eyed boy with the impossible dream – who as long as he could remember has been giving his blood, sweat and tears to become a World Champion.

And when the smoke cleared of this knockdown, drag out struggle for supremacy, it would be The Viper that would strike the loudest. After flipping himself out of the Killswitch, Orton blasted his adversary with the RKO and covered him for the all-important three-count.

Then, in the aftermath of the brutal match, the two great Superstars shook hands in the middle of the ring in a well-deserved moment of absolute mutual respect and unquestionable honor.

Just five days after capturing his first World Championship at Extreme Rules, Christian’s lifelong dream swiftly descended into a nightmare when The Viper pinned his shoulders to the canvas on the May 6 edition of SmackDown. One week later, the noticeably disappointed former champion took the high road, congratulating WWE’s Apex Predator on his newly acquired eighth World Title, claiming that he held no ill will toward Orton or SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long for making the match. Instead, he chose to set his sights on reclaiming his glory in a high stakes rematch at WWE Over the Limit. But, Christian’s redemption was not meant to be.

Christian – much like his victorious opponent – has always enjoyed a special bond with the WWE Universe, thanks to the unrelenting drive, courage and heart that makes him such a cunning warrior. World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Christian

If there's anyone who deserves a rematch in WWE, it's Christian.

After a 17-year career, Captain Charisma finally achieved a lifelong dream by winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules. But, that dream would soon become a nightmare.

In an stunning decision made by SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long – and the WWE Universe – Christian found himself defending his title against Randy Orton just days after Extreme Rules. And with one well-timed RKO, The Viper wrested the title from Christian.

Although visibly shaken by the loss, Christian quickly rebounded.

The following week on SmackDown, Christian was already full of confidence, declaring he could beat Orton when he’s at 100 percent. Then on that same night, in an unlikely tag team bout, he teamed with Orton against Sheamus & Mark Henry.
