...while most folks associate Oakland with burning tire fires, there is a little known secret (i should keep secret, but will share just here) that it is also home to the largest urban regional park district in the United States...124,909 acres with 73 parks and over 1,330 miles of trails...in 2020 i hiked every trail, and i think this year i may try to do like half of it again (and take photos)...but also i think i just like looking where there aren't people...this morning got to meet 140 trail blocking cows who wouldn't mooooove...something theraputic about kvetching at cows and crows while my dogs look back at me with wtf eyes...
I spent half an hour looking at all the parks and open land surrounding Oakland. I grew up 2.5 hours from there and had no idea. Your secret is safe with me.

This recording was such a nice companion to me today while filling out a spreadsheet. There is so much to pay attention to. Often people get annoyed that I don't pay attention to what I'm supposed to be paying attention to. i'm trying to work around this belief I have that it is scarce, because even a few seconds of genuine attention can make someone's day.
