I am only doing this because I feel like this had to be said. As shitty as 2011 was for me, there were a lot of firsts.

First year without my dad being home every day. I also believe it was the first year I'd been to Massachusetts, although mom disagrees with that. (I will also never learn how to spell "Massachusettes" without spell check.)
I achieved my goal of getting my license.
Purchased my first car; I find it hilarious because my dad once owned a '95 Toyota that he crashed and I wanted that car so bad. The ladies down the street had sold it to him in the late 90's or early 00's. I was a far ways away from my license at that point, wasn't I? Haha.
I got my bedroom back at our old house, and while this wasn't exactly a first, to me it counts.
Did I see any concerts this year? For the life of me, I can't remember, although I probably had. I missed quite a few I had wanted to see. Fitz and the Tantrums. Oh... one.
I threw a Halloween party that everyone enjoyed. I was happy and it was fun. Completely worth the bitching from my mom the day after... and the snowstorm.
I drove in the snow for the first time in my life! And on bald tires nonetheless!
I ate a Pretzel Roll for the first time in April and it was not, and I will tell you NOT, the last time I ate one.
I now own a Smartphone, starting this past year. BOOYEAH, up on the technology now! All I am missing is a tablet... hmmm... (just kidding. And a Keurig. ALL RIGHT I'M STOPPING NOW.)
I bought my mom a laptop and she had no freaking idea that she was getting a laptop for Christmas. She still doesn't know how to use it.
I bought Korean Samsung devices, my phone and my TV. My first flat-screen TV. I adore it. My mom also adored it and went to buy herself a flat-screen TV. ...that Bry and I had to buy for her the day after Black Friday. What did they call that? Black Saturday?
I bought a Playstation 3 on Black Friday this year! I love it. I love it. Assassin's Creed is my favorite game ever now, aside from the original .hack, nothing will ever beat .hack oh.... what was I talking about? I wish piko had a PS3, too.
I GOT AN AMERICAN GIRL DOLL FOR CHRISTMAS FROM SARA!!! Her name is Rebecca and she's Jewish and I love her. I love her, love her, I can't believe I own an American Girl doll, it's what I've ALWAYS WANTED, you have NO IDEA! ♥ I began crying as soon as I saw the stars on her box. It was like love at first sight. I knew what it was and I couldn't believe it. The whole office cried. I still can't believe she did that. (Now I just have to see if someone she likes is playing at a concert somewhere close, get her tickets, and try to get that person to meet her. Somehow. I don't know how, but maybe I can do it.) Hopefully she doesn't read this. NTS: Should I even put that line on LJ?

I am glad to wish 2011 a quick goodbye but hope that it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass this year. I now have 25 days left until I turn 25. ...I can't begin to comprehend that sentence. Why am I not writing my best-selling novel by now?
I also wanted to say a giant THANK YOU! to my friends (who drive me crazy, no lie) for being here when I was feeling down, for my family for... somewhat sticking together, even though they drive me WAY more crazy than my friends will ever be able to do, and for Alex, who has done everything and the extra mile for the last year. ♥ He's even listened to me bitch every single day. I don't know how he puts up with me.
I'm hungry. I need to go make eggs, eat, and get ready to go find a store that's open... somewhere.

*ahem*
So much has gone on since the last post. Well, more like one thing went on just before I posted the last post, but I hadn't posted about it.

- I had gotten a car.
It's an adorable 2005 Toyota Corolla and it had just over 54,000 miles on it. I love her. Her name is Juliette, because she was bought at Romeo, and her nickname is Snow White, because she is white and because of Alicia from ARIA.

- I am so proud of my Mr. Piko! He passed a very important test ♥ Congratulations Piko! ♥

- AND TODAAAAAAAY...
I PASSED MY ROAD TEST! I am now legally licensed, fuck yeeeeeeeah~

I am so excited because autumn is right around the corner which means apple picking season and pumpkins and good god, the world is an amazing place. I CAN DRIIIIIIIVE!
I also can't wait until Thursday. Penguindrum Thursdays are the best fucking Thursdays. Plus, I get to watch them with Mr. Piko. ♥

<strike>So. I may be getting a car. (Maybe.)
Like, next week.
I'm supposed to hear back from the dealer by tomorrow/Monday about the loan.</strike>
My second driving test is September 14th and if all goes well, I'll get to use my own car.
<strike>THE CAR HAS A SUNROOF AND A MOONROOF~!</strike>
I'm so tired.

edit: No car just yet. Still looking. Not like it wouldn't work out, just that I'm more concerned that the car had a supposed vibration that I didn't feel but mom and Bryant had, and I did have to stretch my leg just a little bit to press on the gas. And I may need that gas pedal some day.
I'm so depressed that I can't afford the 2008 VW Jetta. I want that car so bad.
Back to hunting on Sunday.

Hay there NY, New Paltz did it right the first time.

New York moves to become 6th state to legalize gay marriage

Albany, New York (CNN) -- New York legislators cleared the last major hurdle to legalize same-sex marriage on Friday with a 33-to-29 vote, sending the bill to the governor's desk for his expected approval.

A vote on the measure, which the state Assembly passed June 15, has been stalled in the Senate. But it turned a corner Friday, according to Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, after lawmakers agreed on an amendment to protect religious groups from litigation that had been pushed by Republicans.

Earlier in the day, the Assembly passed a new version of the bill that included the amendment about religious institutions. The Friday night vote in the Senate means that the legislation's fate is now in the hands of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who proposed it in the first place.

Cuomo, a Democrat, says it would grant same-sex couples equal rights to marry "as well as hundreds of rights, benefits and protections that are currently limited to married couples of the opposite sex."

Currently, five states -- Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and New Hampshire -- and the District of Columbia grant same-sex marriage licenses.

Earlier this week, activists on both sides of the issue gathered in the state capitol, Albany. They chanted opposing slogans -- petitioning for either "marriage equality" or yelling "one man, one woman" in defense of the institution's traditional definition -- though they could also be seen occasionally mingling and even singing religious songs together.

Republicans, led by Skelos, had expressed concerns over the "unintended consequences" of a bill that redefines the legal parameters of marriage. The measure needed three Republicans' votes to pass the bill, which had the support of 31 Senators -- just one short of the number required for passage -- earlier this week.

Source.

Okay, so first hurdle cleared. I'm sure this isn't the end though. I'm going to the March on Sunday though, and the Pridefest, in NYC, so this ought to be interesting.

the felice brothers at utopia sound stage wdst 5-17-2011

I had to look to see whether I had mentioned The Felice Brothers concert that I got to see the other night (Tuesday the 17th of May woo~) because it's so rare that I post in here anymore, right? What had happened was WDST had a contest on Facebook for a small audience to see The Felice Brothers at their studio. That in itself was pretty cool. I didn't own any albums by the band before that night, but I entered anyway. Bre entered everyone who was at the office at that point, and Kieran entered on her own. About a week or so later, Bre ended up with an e-mail inviting her to the concert. We all checked our e-mails and literally the whole office (except Tina, who hadn't been there the day we entered -but didn't want to go anyway; I still think she would have enjoyed that concert) was invited to the concert.
It was worth it.
I invited the douche of the house to come along because you were allowed to bring one guest. He ran into one of his friends there so we were hanging out by the dude and his girlfriend the whole night. (I think their names were Henry and Amy. She had the most adorable strawberry necklace, but she said it was heavy.) Our spot was pretty damn awesome because I could see the band from the side of the stage~ There were a few times when people decided to step in front of me but they moved really quickly. One of the most memorable lines during the concert was in regards to the DJ Jimmy Buff, who had MCed during their first visit to WDST. While they were waiting back stage, one of the interns entered their room and said, "Jimmy Buff says it's showtime." The guys apparently say that to one another before every show if they get nervous.
The show lasted for about an hour and they played a majority of songs off of their new record, Celebration Florida along with some older songs. I ended up buying the new CD and still can't pick a favorite song off of it. I've pretty much been listening non-stop ever since the concert. I love how the first song, "Fire at the Pageant" is about a zombie. One of the songs is about a Honda Civic (seriously,) another about a GYM in Catskill. Guitars, drums, keyboard, trumpets, accordion... just about the only thing missing was the cowbell. <strike>shot</strike>

If you're interesting in listening to the concert, WDST has it posted here on their webpage. It's about an hour long, but even if you just give a few songs a chance, it's worth it. Completely and absolutely worth it.

Sometimes I forget to mention things on my LJ anymore... But since this is pretty damned historic, I ought to do so.

April 29, 2011: Prince William marries Princess Kate.

April 30, 2011: I maneuvered Albany public transportation to visit my dad at the Veteran's Hospital.

May 1, 2011: I purchased my first cosplay outfit online, the school uniform for Puella Magi Madoka Magica to cosplay Homura Akemi. I go downstairs and as I'm walking up the stairs and round the corner my brother yells, "HOLY SHIT" and then that Osama bin Laden is dead. It is being confirmed by the White House in a few minutes.

Okay. I just can't help changing my layout every now and then. I haven't been able to get a decent icon out in a while so.
So mom and I are on our way to see dad. He is at the VA hospital at this time and has been there for the weekend. His liver is not doing good but I really do not want to go into it. We are on the Thruway and I came to the conclusion today that the Thruway is pretty thrilling. In any event, I am hoping tat he is doing better than when he went up here. It may be unlikely but I love dad so I will continue to hope.
I am not sure what else to post... I went out bowling with JB the other night and I always enjoy myself when we are hanging out. Oh. Mom just did 80 that was awesome. Sara showed up after a while. JB and I played air hockey twice which was a hell of a lot more fun than the DDR machine that ate our quarters. We had gone to the KVD before bowling and dinner was great. I always love french toast for dinner.
Anyway I gotta run. Almost there.

I tried tonight to help my dad with his meter for the blood sugar. It didn't work out. I can't understand how someone like my dad, who granted has been sick in the past but is generally rather motivated, can go from being that motivated, quick person to being so slow and hard to understand and just generally so sick. So sick. I don't even know. I love my dad.
On a side note, doctors suck just as much as health insurance.

One final sip to the future!

I'm up to making my final post of 2010 just under an hour and a half until the ball drops in Times Square, which I have successfully avoided at the end of 2010. I'm currently enjoying my night with corvusaeterno over webcam ♥ and watching the festivities on CNN.com.
So, like everyone else, have I got anything to say about 2010?
Psssssh, of course I do. It's been a year, a great year. A strange year. It's had ups, downs, just like any other year. Yet this year has been a great milestone in so many ways. I've been attacking my bedroom lately, trying to get rid of crap. I said "See you the fuck later you lying, cheating, self-centered bitch" to a certain dumb blonde who deserved every ounce of my anger after 11 years of making my friends feel like shit with her condescending, attention whore attitude that I ignored for years. (When you finally realize that someone like that hasn't listened to a word you've said to her for the past 5 years, letting go is liberating.) I also took the step up to getting my permit renewed and failed my driving test the first time. (I haven't yet scheduled a second test... the weather's been a bit ragged and the parents don't want me to drive in the snow. Well, we'll get there.) I made it through my second (?) year working for Bre's parents, which now makes the insurance agency the first job that I've lasted more than 8 consecutive months at. (I think I hit that milestone last year, however. Oh ho ho.) This is also the first year that I have spent away from pinkfluffywings house for New Year's since I can't even remember when. Speaking of, I hope that you're having a wonderful evening, Sophie! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Have I got anything to say about 2011?
Fuck yeah. I'm excited. There's so much I would love to talk about, but those are for entries to come.
Just under an hour now until the big moment. I've kicked out 2010 with a glass of white zinfandel, and I'm more than ready to pop open the champagne and kick back a jello shot made by smalltowngirlxo.
I do so hope that everyone has/has had a pleasant evening and will have a safe, happy, and <strike>crazy</strike> peaceful New Year.

TO 2011!

I am so tired.
I took the road test this morning but failed. Uwa, it's not like I can't try again, but what a disappointment. (Which is honestly strange because I wasn't even really that excited to begin with. *edit: Okay fine, maybe a little bit.)
Our office party is going to be next week on Tuesday. We're going to the Little Italy restaurant for dinner and then Cyndi Lauper after. Then it's going to be holiday cookie party night with Sara and the gang! And then Christmas (wooo!)
I think I'm more excited to be Santa Clause this year than anything else.
Well. I'm not sure what to do tonight other than sleep when I'm ready. Can't be too early though.

Everyone makes me old these days.

I need to make a new header for the winter (not-so-winter yet) season.

On a slighter note, I removed my first gray/silver/white hair today. This is for the record books. This is after I had spoken with Sara yesterday on our trip to NYC that I was sad after realizing that my parents are beginning to age in appearance and I didn't think that was something I was ready to watch just yet.
What is this, gods? I'm so young!

living dead girl is a fun song.

I had to go back and see when I last posted. It's been a couple of weeks now, right? I've been trying to level this sucker out. I don't seem to post in LJ often anymore because I have so many wonderful pico moments.

My nanny/babysitter from when I was a young(er) girl passed away on November 6th. She literally knew that she had cancer about 3 weeks before she passed on. Her funeral was the following Saturday, the 13th. It was sad to see everyone that we had known so long ago in such a sad occasion.

Dad's birthday was the 12th. Bry and I went out to the mall one night so that we could get his present (a blue Sansa Clip, which he has not stopped listening to) and a gift card with 25$ on it for Sears. The night of his birthday we also managed to sneak to Mariner's and got dinner for him. I grabbed him Twin Brazilian Lobster Tails. It was so cool because he had absolutely no idea that any of that was happening.

Today was Wilma's 90th birthday Surprise Party. She had no idea that it was taking place at all and thought that she was merely going to eat with the Japanese who were being welcomed for the Picklefest. Dad and I went and sat with Sara, Tina, Bre, and SarahRose. The majority of time, dad was connected to his headphones. We had a great time though! It was so nice to see everyone, and Sara and I were playing with the duckies and filling them up with water. I brought the cow balloons home and Aria's been playing with them ever since.

Tomorrow is the Picklefest! Jenn is coming down from Albany and will be there with her sister, and Sara told me to text her with the time I'm going. Hopefully we'll all get to go at once. I had a book that I wanted to give to Jenn as a present but I've got no idea where the hell it is. Ugh, my room, seriously.
After the Picklefest is HANGING OUT WITH A PICO! ♥ I love him so much. And then, at 5, I get to see Anthony Bourdain! I am excited =)

Three day work week, then Thanksgiving, then Black Friday (heh heh heh heh heh I am crazy,) then NYC with Sara and her mom on Saturday the 27th. After that, it's gung ho, Holiday season!
This has turned out to be a busy month for me.

I started working on NanoWrimo the other day and realized that HS had taken a turn for the insane. Seriously, Kala?
In any event. Had a wonderful time last night with the girls at Sara's. We danced and watched movies and the creepiest part about Paranormal Activity was the balloon that detached itself from the wall and floated to the side of my couch. Damn balloon just knew I hate balloons on the floor. (Note to parents, don't ever force your kids to sit through a gathering of SIT ON THE BALLOON AND POP IT FOR A PRIZE INSIDE! if they don't like the sound of balloons popping. I've never been the same. I also hate instant loud noises... jumping from being scared is not my favorite activity. One thing if it's funny, but a whole other reason if it's something stupid like balloons popping.)
My last driving lesson is next Sunday and my driving test is December 8th. Oiiiiii. NYS driving test here I come.
I go back to work on Monday. Oyeah. My vacation consisted of Alex, getting a cold, Sophie's party, going to a convention, sleeping, going to the graveyard for Dia de los Muertos with the girls, staying home for a few days which I spent with Alex ♥ and then Sara's party last night. It was a great vacation and Alex had the best idea of not going out to some foreign state and being all alone. Worth it!

random entry, spur of the moment!

In light of two conventions I have been to this year, both having been in NJ, I have to say that I am honestly concerned by the fact that I enjoyed both of the NEXT conventions and will be attending animeNEXT, if not both, conventions again next year. I have found the NJ anime/mangaNEXT conventions to be the friendliest conventions out of the... few... that I've been to. I'm honestly not sure what the reason is but I'm happy to say this.
I've been sick with a cold this past week (IT MISSED MUSE, THANK THE GODS ABOVE) and ended up abusing it this weekend. Sophie had a going away/Halloween party where we danced and ate snacks and had a lot of fun. She and JB had invited a lot of people but it was nice to see us crew there. I wish we could do that more often, just get together and hang out. Hohum. Cass took me home and we had a nice talk in her car. She'll be moving soon herself, upstate.
I went to the convention yesterday, and while I had an awesome day, I was a bit upset at myself for going to another state while I had a cold. I had gotten little sleep these past few days (I had to finish sewing my cape and was up until 3 a.m. on Friday morning to finish it, then ended up not sleeping very well Friday into Saturday, for what reason I can't remember... or maybe it was the day before working on the cape. I can't remember now, ugh) and traveling on the bus was nice, but it wasn't the ideal bed. When I got home last night I can say that I was very happy to a) talk with Alex because I had missed him during the day and b) was happy to see my bed.
Today, Halloween, is my grandmother's birthday. Mom's working and I'm sick, so we definitely can't see her. That does make me sad. Hopefully we'll get to see her at some point.
Tuesday is election day and I am so ready for that. Think of it as a personal vendetta if you will, but there will be no tea party reactionary dickheads on my ballot. We'll also be attending a ceremonial tea party with Amy on Tuesday in the evening. Have to remember to dress warm. Sara has a party coming up on Friday that I'm excited for, too. Lots of dancing! And finally, to end my week of vacation, Sophie will be leaving to move to Colorado to live with Abby on Saturday. To be honest, I do hope things work out in Colorado. She'll be moving on with her life! It's a big jump from living in NY and I'm happy for her. There is, the fact, that I'm sad. She'll be so far away. We'll still be able to talk with her, and send her letters, and Facebook, you name it. It's not like it's the end forever.
I was telling Sara that I've come to the conclusion that even if everyone moves away, I don't think we'll ever all lose contact. Or rather, I don't want to lose contact with all of our friends. I do hope that when we can all afford to, we'll meet up again and take rides out to the overlook and hang out and have the most random dance parties ever. Or we'll sit up all night long and talk about what's going on.
Siiiiiiiiiiigh.
I'm just being me again, no worries.
In lighter news, I was able to find Hibiki's Magic and 11th Cat volumes 2. HURRAY! Oh, and there was a group set up that I'm following on DeviantArt whom we had purchased stickers and such from at animeNEXT and the girl recognized me! I was flooooored. Erica Freidman had a panel all to herself this time and she talked about how the yuri industry is progressing (or not so much, but it's coming along further than it had previously.) I had been talking with Alex on the phone at one point during the convention and she and her wife had sat down beside me while we were talking about her (I had been telling Alex that she had walked past... then she was RIGHT THERE.) I did have a lot of fun at the con. I also have apple stuck in between my teeth and I can't get it out. Also, it just came out. And the mascot for mangaNEXT is a girl who is colored orange and THERE ARE LEAVES AND A PUNKIN ON THE BADGE. THAT MADE MY DAY! AUTUMN, squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
