  • When you experience chronic stress, burnout, or trauma, your nervous system can become rigidly locked in a survival loop. You cannot simply "think" your way out of a physiological response. This is where neurofeedback comes in. Neurofeedback is real-time brainwave monitoring that trains your nervous system toward self-regulation, focus, and resilience. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆: 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Specialized sensors measure your brain’s electrical activity while you interact with a specialized program. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺: When your brainwaves shift into a calmer, more regulated state, the program gives immediate positive feedback. 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Through repetition, your brain learns how to access this balanced state naturally, long after the training ends. Neurofeedback gently prepares your brain for deeper healing, helping you break free from old, exhausting patterns. Your brain is capable of change. #FlowState #FlowStateTherapy #Neurofeedback #NervousSystemRegulation #MindBodyConnection

  • When we named this practice, we wanted something that captured both the science of the brain and the felt experience of healing. By disrupting rigid brain networks, we help clients move out of overthinking and into a state of psychological fluidity—like finally letting go of the paddles and moving forward through a stream. Swipe through to see what FlowState means to our team, our vision for clinical care, and how we approach the process of deep psychological change. #FlowStateTherapy #OttawaMentalHealth #Neuroscience #OttawaClinics #TraumaInformedCare #PsychotherapyOttawa

  • "I used to love doing this. Why does it feel so heavy now?" That is not laziness. It could be a sign of burnout stealing your joy. When your nervous system is trapped in chronic stress, it flattens your emotional range to save energy. This means that activities that used to make you happy, like music, art, and spending time with friends and family, now seem like tiresome tasks on a to-do list. #FlowState #FlowStateTherapy #MentalHealthOttawa #Psychotherapy #OttawaTherapy #MentalHealthEducation

  • Something significant is happening in mental health care right now. Last week I was in Vancouver at the MAPS conference speaking with clinicians, researchers, and people helping shape the future of psychedelic-assisted therapy in Canada. The conversations were thoughtful, grounded, and much more focused on clinical standards and outcomes than hype. One thing keeps coming up: For many people with chronic PTSD, trauma, or treatment-resistant depression, the issue often isn’t a lack of insight or effort. It’s that the nervous system has adapted to survive for so long that it becomes difficult to access change through traditional approaches alone. That’s part of why ketamine-assisted psychotherapy has gained so much attention in recent years. The research around neuroplasticity, fear response, and altered states is becoming harder to ignore. At FlowState Therapy, we believe the long-term credibility and future of this field will depend on moving away from isolated or loosely structured approaches and toward more integrated clinical models. Thoughtful assessment, collaboration between healthcare professionals, medical oversight, integration, outcome tracking, and ongoing discussion between clinicians all matter if this work is going to continue earning trust and evolving responsibly. A lot is changing quickly in this space. We’ll be sharing more of what we’re learning along the way, both from the research side and from real clinical practice here in Ottawa. If you work in mental health, healthcare, research, or simply have an interest in where this field is heading, welcome. #MentalHealth #Psychotherapy #TraumaTherapy #Neuroscience #PsychedelicResearch #PTSD #Ottawa #Healthcare #FlowStateTherapy
