So I (used to?) watch this Youtube series called Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Yes, yes, yes. It's Jane Austen and it's Pride & Prejudice. I won't lie - shit like that is my guilty pleasure. Charlotte Lu is probably one of my favourite characters, but I definitely lost my feels for the show part way through. Lizzie annoys me, I'm not finding Darcy attractive. And just. Where did the feels go? To be fair, I did stop watching just before the 50th episode after devouring the first 40 like a fiend.

Anyone else out there watching it? Any general consensus on the show?

Dipping my toe back into fandom lately. I've been doing a lot of (re)reading of bookmarked fic, partly for a friend whose bookmark collection got wiped out recently. Nuts to realize how long it's been - authors/journals being deleted and fic disappearing.

Anyone have any idea where winterweathered/yourperiphery/dontyouwaitup went? Am coming across lots of locked links there.

Asides from that - who loved the Potter-shapped 3D glasses they handed out at the HP & the DH midnight premiere! Okayokay, old news. This gal is mighty rusty.

Also, I have found that fanfiction has ruined my taste for sex in mainstream lit. Having gotten back into a bit of a Snarry mood (re-reading and the like), as well as re-reading the HP series, have found that the "romantic" writings available on the market don't tend to push any buttons. Certainly not the porny bits, at least. Plot-wise it feels as though there is a general lack of innovation, nothing in the way of the pure creativity that comes out of these amazing writers we've got in fandom.

My opinion pertains to romance novels found on shelves in common bookstores, though.

Wow, it's been well over half a year since I've posted. Just haven't been very active in fandom; trying to catch up in RL. Third year's really kicking my butt, on top of the major squee for SPN being completely gone. (No, I still haven't finished watching S5. Yes, I have plans to. Eventually.)

Have been mostly watching Bones, Castle and Big Bang Theory, these days. (Plus the unfettered re-watching of Sherlock (2010 BBC) episodes.) A little bit of Hellcats and Glee thrown in. The internet (from my end of the stick) doesn't look that active, and quite frankly, the what fic I do find isn't quite up to snuff. I think I've been spoiled by the wonderful Supernatural and Harry Potter authors for too long.

the podfics over at amplificathon's 2009 Podbang went up a couple weeks ago! I was a pinchhitter and did an SGA gen fic for parisindy (Long Road Home by sholio). It's about 2 and a half hours. Hee, damn if it wasn't the most stressful night of my life trying to finish editing it.

Twilight fans need not read this bullety. I have been surfing My Life is Twilight and laughing so. hard. I just. *snort*

God. Please, just go read fleshflutter's spy!verse. It's amazing, and deserves all the recognition it gets. Oops, forgot a link. The entire verse is here, the first part is here.

Adding while my brain still works well enough. This fic has amazing characterizations, and it just absolutely draws you in. The action's done well, the tension, the twists and turns. It's definitely a roller coaster, but one that is a wholly satisfying ride.

Also, it made me love Chad a bit. And any fic that makes me like Chad is yay.

I found out just now about Kim Manners. Am shocked, to say the least. I though it was a nasty rumour or something when I first saw any hint of it. I'm thankful for his dedication and the great spirit he brought to Supernatural. Our experiences were definitely made better through his participation, and I'm sure he's touched many lives. He'll be missed by the fans and people in the industry. I hope our fannish proclivities/activities has brought him just as much amusement as he's done with his work.

Ack. I've been ridiculously struggling with the new laptop/Vista. Internet on this stupid thing is SO slow, I haven't even bothered to try youtube. I've been trying to DL Windows Live Messenger so I don't feel so cut off. It's not working. So I go to the download page, hit Download, thing pops up (only giving me the option to Save File or Cancel, but not Run. WTF.) So I save the file. Open up that 1.1MB file once it's done, and it getes stuck on "Preparing Installer.." for ages. It refuses to install.

Then for Firefox, I've been trying to get (at least) my Delicious add-on downloaded & installed. The fucker refuses to download, giving me a "-228" error about 31.3kb into downloading. So I head to Mozilla's support, and searching for stuff in the Support Forum results in posts that I can't get to ("Incorrect thread" or "This forum is flat and doesn't allow replies to other replies" when I click on the results). From there, I head to Live Chat, hoping that talking to someone would be better use than technology. Oh hello. It's my turn in the queue. The chat pops up. I start blabbing after a while with no acknowledgement of another person on the other side. At least an hour later, there's STILL no reply. NGH. So I just closed that chat.

Yes I am fucking thoroughly frustrated. With this laptop and Vista. (I mean, why the hell can't I turn off file sharing either?)

Would appreciate if someone could possibly spare some insight.

(I seem to lack an angry icon. Hm.)

Happy New Years Eve!

Hope 2009 will be a better year for many people, and for those who've had a pretty good 2008, may it continue being as great!

I haven't been around much the past couple of months, I do realize. And hell, I must be ultimately boring at this point. Apologies! I'm not one to do resolutions. They just seems so.. resolute. I prefer goals instead. So one of my first goals for 2009 will be to somehow find a balance between fandom-LJ and real life.

Anyway! I may sap at you later. For now, off to watch Amelie with the parents!

Whoo, I made it to the end of the semester! My laptop (Sam), rather. It's definitely futzing on me right now. I have a Toshiba laptop at the moment, and it's several years old. I've been looking at a Macbook or a Windows (PC) laptop as a replacement, but I don't have much experience. I grew up on PCs, so have no idea how difficult a transition it would be. In terms of a Windows replacement, though, I haven't really tried other brands, so I'm a little lost as well.

The one thing I do think I'll really miss if I switch to Mac is the handwriting capability in MSN.
