Gladys Ingle of the 13 BLACK CATS changes planes in mid-air to replace a lost wheel.

Well Eric wasn’t just whistlin’ Dixie! Gladys Ingle definitely had balls to spare– Maybe she had 13 pairs! She was the only female member of Hollywood’s 13 Black Cats aerial daredevil stunt troop. They flew “Jennys”– Curtiss JN-4 biplanes with an abundance of struts and wires to grip, making it ideal for stunt-riders and wing-walkers. Gladys earned her fearless reputation by changing planes in mid-air without a parachute or safety gear. Legend has it she performed her wing-walking stunts hundreds of times. She’s a young and spry woman of 25 or 26 years old in the below pics– amazing. One popular stunt had Gladys performing archery atop a Jenny biplane in midair. She went on to live a long and healthy life, passing away in 1981, at 82 years of age. I’d love to know more about the incredible Gladys Ingle, so please reach out if you’re in the know!

The Øresund Bridge is a remarkable engineering marvel that connects Sweden and Denmark, specifically linking the Danish capital, Copenhagen, with the Swedish city of Malmö. This architectural masterpiece comprises a combination of a bridge and an underwater tunnel, serving as a vital transportation route for both cars and railways. The Øresund Bridge consists of three main sections. The journey begins on the Danish side with the Øresund Tunnel, an underwater passage that gradually ascends until it reaches an artificial island called Pepperholm. From there, the bridge emerges, spanning across the Øresund Strait and culminating in the Swedish city of Malmö. A pretty pink color offers clever camouflage for the abyssal comb jelly

The abyssal comb jelly (Beroe abyssicola) patrols the midnight zone searching for its favorite food—other comb jellies. But this predator prowls in dark depths, where most animals can produce bioluminescence. A glowing gut would invite the attention of other predators. The crimson color of this comb jelly’s stomach absorbs the light produced by bioluminescent prey.

Flapjack octopus: This charming cephalopod made headlines for cuteness

Notes:  The flapjack octopus Opisthoteuthis is a cirrate octopus. A small pair of fins on their mantle and webbed arms allow them to either drift or pulse like a jellyfish just above the seafloor. Scientists believe the finger-like cirri lining each arm are used to detect and capture small prey such as small crustaceans, polychaetes, and molluscs living in the mud. Many cephalopods die shortly after they spawn, but Opisthoteuthis is able to continuously spawn throughout their lifetime. Their eggs require up to three years to develop and hatch. Given the length of time for egg development, it is thought these species may be relatively long-lived, but little is known about their natural history.
