Gift giving expectations have gotten so far out of hand. I really want my daughter to have the memories of the traditions and the family rather than just how many gifts to open. I want to get her thoughtful gifts that are personal to her and not just the latest fancy toys. We will still do fun santa gifts but the sheer amount of gifts that other family members give their kids makes it a struggle. I am not looking forward to the Christmas's with her cousins where they list all of their big expensive gifts to her but I am also prepared to have that conversation. I hate the fact that the adults in the family are so concerned about making sure everyone has an appropriate number of gifts and none of the kids feel slighted instead of everyone just getting everyone else one meaningful gift. It is beyond thoughtful of you to spend any time on your own personal travels thinking of others!

The greatest gifts are not material. To cause me to think is the greatest gift I could ever receive. Something handmade, a genuine hand written note/card and or a valuable word of advice is what I hold dear.

Today there are far too many phony people who carry many loaves under their arms complaining and who always want more and who like to hoard.
