Hashem,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thank You for the privilege of providing for my family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Mincha prayer I am about to recite stands in place of the Mincha offering that we once brought in Your Holy Temple in Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was a flour offering\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
an offering born of human effort:\u00a0<\/span>
planting seeds, tilling the earth, guarding the crop from harm,\u00a0<\/span>
harvesting the stalks, separating the kernels,\u00a0<\/span>
and grinding wheat into flour to become bread.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Mincha\u00a0offering\u00a0reflects the work of my hands,\u00a0<\/span>
and it reflects the work of Yours.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Mincha offering declares how hard man works\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
and how infinitely harder You work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

You created the sun:\u00a0<\/span>
1.4 million kilometers wide,\u00a0<\/span>
1.3 million times larger than the Earth,\u00a0<\/span>
burning at 15 million degrees Celsius.\u00a0<\/span>
You placed it 150 million kilometers away\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
not closer, not farther\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
so that when its warmth reaches the wheat,\u00a0<\/span>
it is exactly what life requires.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Had the sun been 5% closer, the wheat would burn.\u00a0<\/span>
Had it been 5% farther, the wheat would freeze.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

You created air, sunlight, soil, and water\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
all that wheat needs to grow.\u00a0<\/span>
Ninety percent of wheat\u2019s substance comes not from the ground,\u00a0<\/span>
but from the carbon in the air You create.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

You provide water in perfect measure.\u00a0<\/span>
Too much, and the roots suffocate.\u00a0<\/span>
Too little, and the plant starves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

You design wheat so that only Your balance sustains it,\u00a0<\/span>
so that our lives remain dependent on Your wonders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Each year, all the wheat on Earth is harvested.\u00a0<\/span>
And each year, we stand again\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
fully dependent on You\u00a0<\/span>
to provide food anew.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wheat appears to rise from the ground,\u00a0<\/span>
but most of it comes from the sky.\u00a0<\/span>
Soil only unlocks what air, light, and rain provide.\u00a0<\/span>
Like the Manna<\/em> we received in the midbar<\/em> (desert), the bread of this world descends from Above.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Every year, You create\u00a01.2 quadrillion wheat stalks\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
1,200 trillion\u00a0holding 24 quadrillion wheat kernels\u00a0<\/span>
to feed the 8 billion souls living on Your Earth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

As hard as I believe I work for my daily bread, I do not.\u00a0<\/span>
It is Your blessing that enables my effort.\u00a0<\/span>
I do not provide my family with my strength\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
I deliver Your blessing into their hands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The greatest gift You give\u00a0us\u00a0is\u00a0allowing us to partner with You\u00a0in tending Your world.\u00a0<\/span>Without You, we do nothing.\u00a0You do everything.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our task is not to create blessing,\u00a0but to receive it humbly\u00a0and use it to serve Your will\u2014\u00a0<\/span>
through Torah, mitzvot, tzedakah, and refined middot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mincha reminds me\u00a0Who is truly working\u00a0and who is receiving.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thank You, Father.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
