In the first portion of Chapter 6, Rabbi Arush explains that a secret of powerful prayer<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is to believe<\/span><\/span>\u00a0with complete\u00a0<\/span><\/span>faith that Hashem yearns to send you\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the salvation you want<\/span><\/span>. You must believe that you are important and precious in the eyes of Hashem just as you are\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>He want<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to bring you close to Him.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>When\u00a0<\/span><\/span>you have this type of faith<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0you possess<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the vessel to draw down\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>complete salvation.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Now Rabbi Arush explains a second secret of successful prayer:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>P<\/span><\/span>raying for the sake of Hashem and asking Him to fulfill His will.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ev<\/span><\/span>eryone who asks Hashem to help him spiritually is, in a sense eliciting\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Hashem\u2019s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0will. Therefore, you can en<\/span><\/span>treat Hashem with all your might, because you are, as it were, looking to help Hashem do what He really wants to do. <\/span><\/span>Pray like this,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span>Master of the Universe, I ask\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Y<\/span><\/span>ou<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span>at\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Y<\/span><\/span>our true will be actualized, because in this way\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Your<\/span><\/span>\u00a0name<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is made great, and that is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Your<\/span><\/span>\u00a0true will and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Y<\/span><\/span>our salvation as it were!<\/span><\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rabbi\u00a0<\/span><\/span>A<\/span><\/span>rush says there is an additional and wondrous de<\/span><\/span>pth<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to prayers that are expressed entirely on behalf of Hashem.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>This<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is because Hashem deeply wants us to change and comport ourselves in the way that children of the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>K<\/span><\/span>ing should act. Therefore, we pray on\u00a0<\/span><\/span>behalf of Hashem. We pray that H<\/span><\/span>is will\u00a0<\/span><\/span>for us should\u00a0<\/span><\/span>be actualized.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
There is another reason that such prayer brings about salvation and that it is called perfect prayer.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>This is because it is a<\/span><\/span>\u00a0prayer without any personal interest, prayer that is 100% for the sake of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>p<\/span><\/span>erforming the will of Hashem.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>In<\/span><\/span>\u00a0this kind of prayer a person has no personal will or ulterior mot<\/span><\/span>ives. His entire intent is only to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0want what Hashem wants, to want\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Hashem\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><\/span>will to be actualized.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>He has totally cancelled himself before Hashem, which is the pinnacle of prayer.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Every time we engage in prayer to free ourselves from\u00a0<\/span><\/span>our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>animal nature\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>cravings<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and come close to Hashem, we are engaging in prayer on behalf of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>H<\/span><\/span>is will and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>H<\/span><\/span>is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>honor that<\/span><\/span>\u00a0his children will appear as H<\/span><\/span>e wants them to appear. Therefore when we<\/span><\/span>\u00a0recite such a prayer, we may ask for\u00a0<\/span><\/span>an\u00a0<\/span><\/span>immediate salvation.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rabbi Arush suggests that i<\/span><\/span>n order to make this concept vividly real, imagine a father and mother whose son has grown completely alienated\u00a0<\/span><\/span>from<\/span><\/span>\u00a0them and causes them endless pain. If he comes and tells him that he wants to return to them, they will immediately\u00a0<\/span><\/span>rejoice and forget the past, and give him everything with their\u00a0<\/span><\/span>whole\u00a0<\/span><\/span>heart. As for parents of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a<\/span><\/span>\u00a0son\u00a0<\/span><\/span>who remains<\/span><\/span>\u00a0alienated from them, they would be willing to give him so much if only he would want to return.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If this is true even of human parents in this world, how much more is it true of Our Father in Heaven whose love and compassion are infinite and whose will is infinite.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>H<\/span><\/span>ow much does H<\/span><\/span>e want to help every person<\/span><\/span>!<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Think how pleased He must be when a person\u00a0<\/span><\/span>realizes that he is living a mistake and wants to improve!\u00a0<\/span><\/span>When<\/span><\/span>\u00a0we understand that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>prayer is the tool that will\u00a0<\/span><\/span>bring\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Hashem<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to actualize\u00a0<\/span><\/span>H<\/span><\/span>is will, our entire prayer will be a prayer on behalf of Hashem.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
Rabbi\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Arush<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is not asserting that\u00a0 after\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>single\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>prayer<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>session<\/span><\/span>\u00a0you will change entirely and that there is no need for any waiting whatsoever. He is saying\u00a0 that the reality\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>having to wait must not discourage us from crying out repeatedly. We have to believe with simple faith that in the realm of Hashem there is no waiting, and everything can be brought about in a single moment.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>It\u2019s only the Evil Inclination who tells us that this situation is so big, it will certainly take forever to achieve what I want\u2026 the reality is that Hashem can give it to you in a moment.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Realizing this strengthen<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0our prayers so<\/span><\/span>\u00a0that they will be words of flaming fire<\/span><\/span>. Certainly such prayers can bring\u00a0<\/span><\/span>about<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>swift results.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

At the same time, we should not be upset if\u00a0<\/span><\/span>we<\/span><\/span>\u00a0are not answered immediately. The greatest wisdom is the following<\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0At the time of prayer, you must yearn, want, cry out, and expect to receive immediately, with absolute faith and absolute prayer,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>without<\/span><\/span>\u00a0resign<\/span><\/span>ing\u00a0<\/span><\/span>yourself to waiting. But after you pray, you must accept the need to wait with love for Hashem, and you must\u00a0<\/span><\/span>just continue to be happy and accept everything with love.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Additionally<\/span><\/span>, elsewhere I have read\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Rabbi Arush teach\u00a0<\/span><\/span>that we may also inject a sense of urgency for basic needs like\u00a0<\/span><\/span>shidduchim<\/span><\/span>, children,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>good health,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>children on the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>on a good path of Torah<\/span><\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>good income<\/span><\/span>. We do this by\u00a0<\/span><\/span>f<\/span><\/span>raming our request properly. We ask not for our sake but for the glory and honor of Hashem. We ask only so that we can serve the <\/span><\/span>K<\/span><\/span>ing to the fullness of our potential.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>W<\/span><\/span>hen we do this, we\u00a0<\/span><\/span>transform prayers for material or physical items<\/span><\/span>\u00a0into spiritual request<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
It’s vital that we make these requests\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in humility<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0without a sense of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>entitlement.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>W<\/span><\/span>e are asking as a free gift<\/span><\/span>, just<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for the privilege of serving the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>K<\/span><\/span>ing better<\/span><\/span>, and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0not because we deserve it.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>M<\/span><\/span>oreover, there should not be any sense of sadness or complaint, only yearning.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Rabbi Arush says that after our prayer<\/span><\/span>s and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0requests<\/span><\/span>, we should\u00a0<\/span><\/span>assume<\/span><\/span>\u00a0a sense of happiness and gratitude. There may be delays and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>we<\/span><\/span>\u00a0must realize that these t<\/span><\/span>o<\/span><\/span>o are for our own good<\/span><\/span>. We should<\/span><\/span>\u00a0utilize the delay<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to build our emuna<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>that everything Hashem does is for the best even if we don’t always understand it. In fact, it is this enhanced\u00a0<\/span><\/span>emuna<\/span><\/span>\u00a0that will ultimately\u00a0<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span>mpower our prayers and evoke Divine compassion to grant our request.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In summary, by praying for the sake of Hashem\u2019s honor<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>we empower our prayers. Hashem wants us to come close to Him\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and do His will. Our prayers can be answered decisively and immediately but if more sustained prayer and effort is required, we should not be discouraged. We should be patient and persistent. Through\u00a0<\/span><\/span>indefatigable<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Torah study and prayer we should work\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to build<\/span><\/span>\u00a0vessels of gratitude, humility and emuna till the beautiful breakthrough finally\u00a0<\/span><\/span>comes<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
