Character Name: "Hunter" Retnuh (He'll be staying in the same house, if that's cool.)
Character Series: Left 4 Dead
Character Age: 17
Background: Before the zombie apocalypse, Hunter was your average young adult. He worked a boring job (bagging groceries), attended high school (doing a victory lap for better credits), and lived at home with his parents. But he was the star of the track team, so life was pretty cool. He was a fast runner. He'd even been offered a few scholarships because of it, and he was planning to go to college to help out the family. Life was pretty good, in all honesty.
But then the infected came. Running home from school in his track outfit (a hoodie and sweatpants with duct tape added to be stylish), he was chased by the infected. Luckily, he escaped. At first, there were only a few, so Hunter stayed at home, stockpiling food, drinks, and weapons. He hadn't a clue where his parents were, but he assumed that they had become one of the infected. There weren't so many infected, so he fought them off. But then more came. And more. And more. Eventually, there was a small mob had taken over the city. There was nothing that could be done. In his last few minutes, Hunter tried his best to fight off the infected... but to no avail. He lost, blacking out.
Once he awoke, he realized that he wasn't quite human anymore. He watched in horror as his fingers grew into horrible claws, his teeth elongating into sharp fangs, and his chest felt as if it were contorting and writhing within him. It hurt more than anything he had ever experienced. He screamed and yelled, wishing for death, since the pain was so bad. But there was nothing to be done. He then lost his mind.
Once his transformation was complete, he stumbled outside, staring out at the ruined city. However, he began to hear gunfire coming from somewhere nearby. He ran towards the scene, not realizing how fast he was. There were people there, trying to fight off the infected.
So he jumped onto one of the humans, then began to tear them to pieces, biting and ripping. Once he was done, he was covered in blood, and his stomach was full. It felt good. The other survivors were screaming and pointing at him, shouting, “Hunter! It's a Hunter!”
He remained in the city for a month or two, losing his humanity slowly. Nothing was going right for him anymore. He simply continued to wander the streets, looking for more food, occasionally having to eat a dead body or two. This is what he's been doing ever since.
Personality: Hunter, if you want to look at the basics, is kind of a dick. He swears, generally mistreats others without thinking, and tends to take people for granted because he's angry about not knowing what the hell is going on. He mistreats people and takes them for granted because he doesn't understand the value of human life. Knowing only about how to kill and generally be a monster, he wouldn't have a hope to understand. Having just regained his mind, he doesn't really know what to do with his new life. Because of this, he acts resentful and angry that he can't remember who he was or what he was doing with his life.
He talks with an air of self-importance around him, and tends to speak informally. "Man," "Dude," and other slang terms are often used by him. His attitude is also a bit "better-than-you" in the sense that he thinks he's the greatest thing ever and that everyone else is totally uncool. Hunter also likes to crack sarcastic jokes to people, usually at other people's expenses.
Obviously, he doesn't "remember" Mayfield at all, since he was never really "there" in the first place. Which, of course, having "old friends" that he doesn't know will most likely unnerve him and annoy him.
On the subject of friends, Hunter isn't the kind of person to make friends easily due to his abrasive nature. While he already "has" friends at Mayfield, he'll be very reluctant to re-befriend the majority of them as they are human. Hunter believes that the infected and humans can not, will not, and shall not get along, or even consider being "friends." For example, if someone was a vampire, giant lizard, zombie, mummy or what the heck ever, he'd be a little more willing to be friends with them if they tried to spark the friendship.
Hunter doesn't really seem to be afraid of much, but in reality, he's constantly unsure and worried about what he's going to do next. In order to hide his fears, he puts up the "tough guy" facade that he usually has on. And, in truth, he slightly scared of turning back into a monster. He likes the control that's been given to him, and he doesn't want it taken away. For minor fears, he doesn't like fire much and he detests the cold.
But what Hunter does like is always fun for him. He likes to exercise, enjoys sweet things – although he won't admit it, likes warmth, and secretly enjoys having other people looking up to him. Although he seems to hate kids, he has a tendency to act like an older brother to many people.
When Hunter's confused about something, he tends to worry and gets slightly flustered when people keep pressing on points where he's vulnerable or is not knowledgeable in the subject at hand. This is when his "tough-guy" attitude starts to falter. Other times his attitude starts to falter is when he's upset. Though it's a little bit difficult to upset him, when he is upset, he tends to let his true feelings show.
On a final note, he hates to admit he's wrong. Especially when he knows he's incredibly wrong. For example, if he were to lose a bet, he would be quiet and resentful while the other person requested him to fulfill the agreement of the bet.
Abilities: Increased lower body strength, ability to pounce and jump long distances, ability to scale small buildings, enhanced lung capacity, enhanced oxygen intake, running ability from pre-infection.
