Thaddeus invokes the Journal of the Nexus proper, physically appearing on that plane. His immediate surround is borrowed from the fashion of his own reality; a simple canvas tent and weakly sputtering fire, the ground beneath rimed with frost. He awaits the arrival of a Lady, and the counsel she brings...

Miscellaney
Note to self: remember to tag IC posts as such. This journal is for both, you know.

After reading some sites and journals online here, I finally thought to try a spread from the tarot deck I bought quite some time ago. The deck is...well, I don't know the publisher, but it ties a Lord of the Rings theme into the cards. I used a four-card spread that I'd found buried somewhere on a journal on this site; purportedly good for getting the feel of a new deck, thusly:

1 - what will you teach me?
2 - what is needed in return?
3 - what will this relationship be like?
4 - anything else?

According to the guidebook that came with the deck, it might be interpreted this way (this is directly taken from my handwritten notes):
1 - 3 of Swords, reversed - need for communication, questioned. Comfort in a time of need? Unsure.
2 - Ace of Cups, reversed - emotional fulfilment (at finding destiny), questioned.
3 - XXI The World, reversed - burdens, duties. Fear of responsibility.
4 - 2 of coins, upright - same line of work, in a different place. Keeping several things moving at the same time.

Everything vaguely makes sense, I suppose. Was a little surprised to see the first three cards all inverse - that position usually indicates a questioned outlook on the minor arcana, instead of a specific, different meaning than the upright position.

Best-laid plans
Scribbled notes this time, a veritable shopping list. Thad seems to be pondering.

Ah, but taking on a companion - the Someone prior mentioned - may yet be a daunting task. I have taken it upon myself to find equipment for milady. Given her skills, it will be of a different sort than what I have been collecting, but I do believe I have scrounged enough!

Thus:

Item, 1st - Protection.
Gloves and boots, supple leather, 1 pair ea. Leather armour; frontispiece studded, greaves & pauldrons supple. Woolen cloak, and spare same. Lantern and oil.

" 2nd - Stowage.
Pack, pouches; sheathes and scabbard as req'd. Sling for quiver.

" 3rd - Weaponry.
This I shall have to find milady's preference. Crossbow, and knives (Fire and Frost?).

" 4th - Miscellaney.
Such magic as milady is willing to make use of; draughts of healing and quickness; sundry supplies.

Our chances are as good as any in the Dark, and two sets of eyes are better than one in any case. In a way, I look forward to this.

Of worlds beyond
So. The Journal of the Nexus has fallen into my hands. I have met many strange folk thanks to the tome's magic, and can even escape the Pits for a time. I have talked, drunk, and offered my services in a Revolution. Seen other worlds, posed questions. It is not a life I would lead for all time, but a pleasant diversion fromt he endless dark nonetheless.

And yet, at one point, I will be bringing someone back with me. Curiouser and curiouser.
