A Walk Through Darkness : Chapter Three
Title : A Walk Through Darkness
Pairing : Kangin + Yesung
Genre : Angst / Romance / Drama
Rating : T
Somewhere on the other side of the city of Seoul, Kangin found himself restlessly pacing the length of the small room that he and Yesung shared together. His weary eyes frequently darting over to the clock, subconsciously counting the minutes that had gone by since Yesung was forcefully taken away from him.
In his twenty-five years of living, he had never felt this scared and shaken before. He couldn't even get his thoughts straight, he didn't even know if his hands had ever stopped trembling at all. The fact that he didn't have control over the situation at hand disturbed him greatly. There was absolutely nothing that he could do right now but to wait for Woojin's next call. And, of course, the thought of calling the police had crossed his mind more than a few times by then, but he did not dare, not with Yesung's life in jeopardy.
And it had all been his fault.
Kangin dragged a hand over his face roughly and drew in a long, stuttering breath. The events from earlier that day was starting to wear him down, physically and mentally. Woojin's sneering voice and words were still fresh in his mind, jeering, taunting and mocking him. He cringed at the thought of what Yesung might be going through at the very moment, waves of guilt washing over him again and again. "I told him that I'd always protect him..." He whispered to himself miserably, blinking back the hot, stinging tears that threatened to spill down his cheeks.
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of the vibrating cellphone, a bleeping sound then followed, indicating that he had received a message. Startled, he quickly reached out for the electronic device before him, flipped it open and pressed 'OK'.
What he saw on the small screen of his cellphone made his eyes grow wide with terror. His heartbeat fluttered wildly in his chest and a wave of dizziness assailed him, making him feel terribly nauseous. "Oh my god, Jongwoon..." Kangin muttered under his breath shakily, not believing the horrible image presented before his eyes. His free hand flew towards his mouth in shock, feeling as if his hammering heart was about ready to make a leap out of his throat.
He swallowed convulsively, the cellphone gripped tightly in his strong but shaky hand, and his eyes were still fixed on the image on the small screen. He could clearly see that Yesung's face was bloodied and bruised even though the older man had his face turned away from the camera, his wrists were bound cruelly as if he was some kind of an animal. Never in his life had he imagined seeing his Yesung, hurt, bloodied and bruised like that.
The fear inside of him quickly turned into anger, he couldn't believe that he had failed to keep Yesung safe, he couldn't believe that Woojin had gone this far. Tears began to well up in his eyes again, frustrated and angry that he couldn't do anything right away to get Yesung out of this. "It's my fault... Jongwoon-ah... it's my fault... I'm sorry... I should have never let this happen to you... "

Summary : Someone is seeking revenge on Kangin. And he knows just exactly how to get to him.

The world came back to him blurry and slightly distorted. Blinking a few times, Yesung tried to focus on his surroundings. The darkened room in his view, the pounding of his head and the pain throbbing throughout his body confirmed that everything that had happened wasn't just a dream, but indeed was a living nightmare. A sudden chill filled the room, causing him to shiver.
Yesung squirmed slightly in his restraints, trying to alleviate the strain on his arms and wrists. He struggled on his feet in attempt to support his body. Dripping with sweat, Yesung looked around the small dank room, his weary eyes darting from corner to corner, looking to see if his captor was anywhere in sight.
"Oh, you're awake Yesung!" The fake chirpy voice came, breaking the silence of the small room. "I was beginning to get bored here all by myself!" Woojin got up from the chair that he was sitting on and sauntered towards Yesung, the shit-eating grin slowly crept upon his face. "How was sleep? Dreamt of anything good?" The knife suddenly made its appearance right in front of Yesung's face again.
Yesung gasped as the cold steel blade was dragged lightly from his cheek, down towards his bare chest. The tip of the knife wasn't pressed hard enough to draw any blood, but the threat was there, Yesung knew that.
"Yesung...sshi..." Woojin started, his eyes followed the tip of the blade as he continued to lightly drag the knife across Yesung's body. "Why do you love him? He's a bad person you know?"
Yesung didn't answer.
"Did you know what he did? Did you know how he got you into this mess?" Woojin asked his captive questioningly. "It's okay... let me tell you! And you'll know what kind of person your boyfriend is!" Woojin exclaimed in raised voice.
"Youngwoon! That bastard! He destroyed my brother! Destroyed my life!" Woojin's eyes darkened threateningly, he pressed the tip of the knife harder into Yesung's skin without warning, slicing at his bruised flesh, causing Yesung to hiss harshly through clenched teeth.
A small smile formed on Woojin's face, clearly satisfied that he had cause Yesung pain. He repositioned the knife, ready to inflict another fresh cut across Yesung's chest. "My brother, my poor, poor twin brother... he loved Youngwoon! He would have done anything for that selfish bastard! And Youngwoon never appreciated Joonsung! He refused to be with Joonsung!" Woojin yelled, anger and hatred obvious in his scowling face.
"And your good-for-nothing Youngwoon, he broke my little brother's heart... it was him that turned my cheerful brother into a self hating person! My brother changed because of that bastard! And he hung himself because of him! Your boyfiend!" Woojin ranted heatedly, the knife in his hand never stopped inflicting cuts on Yesung's upper body, punishing his captive for the pain he felt for his dead brother. "My brother would still be alive if it wasn't for that bastard Youngwoon!"
Yesung glared at Woojin helplessly, blood streaked down his body, soaking through the waistband of his jeans. He struggled to stay on his two wobbly feet. The cuts inflicted upon him were made enough to make him hurt like hell, but not enough to to end his life.
"You understand now right Yesung? You know now why I have to do this..." Woojin grabbed a handful of Yesung's hair and yanked his head back forcefully . "Kangin took away the only family I have in this world, he caused the death of the only person I ever cared about! I just want him to pay for what he's done!"
"It-It's not his...fault!" Yesung forced out through ragged breaths.
"What?" Woojin asked almost incredulously.
"Y-your brother...what h-happend to your brother, it wasn't Youngwoon's fault! N-never his fault!"
Yesung's statement only proved to make the mentally disturbed man angrier. Without another word, Woojin kicked Yesung square in the chest. "You piece of shit! You're still defending him after what he had done!" He spat angrily into the man's bloodied face.
Yesung coughed harshly as his lungs screamed for air, his body lurched awkwardly in respond to the pain that assaulted him. Blood emerged from his mouth, adding to the previous taste of copper. He sputtered weakly, blood bubbling through his slightly parted lips. Something was definitely broken inside of him, because breathing shouldn't hurt this much.
"You know damned well that everything that happened was Kangin's fault!" Another blow ploughed into Yesung's side. "You chose the wrong man to be with...don't you agree?" A smile of triumph stretched across Woojin's face.
Yesung remained quiet, though his coughing and wheezing spoke volumes. His head was throbbing painfully now, excruciating pain shot up his chest whenever he coughed. He couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe, the only thing he could feel is the acidic bile rising from the back of his throat. And without warning, mixture of bile and blood surged out of his throat, right onto the floor.
Startled, Woojin took a few steps back, his face contorted in disgust for a mere second before turning red with anger. "What have you done! You useless pile of crap!" He cursed angrily, looking at the mess before him. Woojin cast the heaving man a forbidding look before turning angrily towards the door.
Less than a minute later, Woojin came back with a pail full of water. He walked towards Yesung , carefully avoiding the small puddle of stomach content on the floor. Without saying a word, Woojin emptied the pail of water over Yesung's head.
Yesung's eyes snapped open as the icy cold water assaulted his thin frame. He gasped sharply in pain as the water caused the open cuts on his chest to sting. But Yesung couldn't even lift his head to protest, his head hung down limply, totally helpless in the restraints. Pain radiated throughout his battered body, there wasn’t a single area on his entire body that didn’t hurt. He didn't know how much more he could take before he breaks completely.
I don't know, this chapter was excruciatingly hard. Hm..
