This list blends classic genre musicals, concert films, and music documentaries with films where music plays a central narrative role (think Baby Driver), or where a musical moment unexpectedly emerges—like in Gilda, Bonjour Tristesse, or The Conformist. I’ve always had a soft spot for those surprise musical numbers, and this is my attempt to gather them alongside more traditional music- and dance-driven cinema.
