Hello! And welcome to the tenth edition of the Letterboxd Season Challenge! It is amazing that this seasonal 33-week-long community challenge has lasted for a whole decade, growing and welcoming new hosts, but remaining about the same since the beginning with the goal of helping movie-lovers all over the world discover and enjoy new movies through a weekly theme. 𝖘𝖊𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖓𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖎𝖓, Wade McCormick, and I will be sharing cohosting duties for a second time this year, continuing the great work established by Monsieur Flynn, kurt k, and Benjamin Milot in the preceding years.
This is how the challenge works: Starting the first full week of September 2024 and ending at the beginning of May 2025 you must watch one previously unseen film that fits the criteria of the theme for the week. These themes can be found in the notes section of this list here. Once you watch a movie for the Letterboxd Season Challenge make sure you tag your log with letterboxd season challenge and/or lsc10, along with the weekly tag (e.g. lsc10 week1, lsc10 week2 etc.) so that it is easy for us all to find and read each other's reviews.
Keep in mind that this challenge is designed for challengers to watch one movie a week for 33 weeks, with a two-week break in the winter, but it can be completed as you see fit by watching the movies whenever you want and in any order you want. You are also not bound to stick with your initial list if you want or need to swap out some of the movies as you progress through the challenge. The important thing is to stick to the themes, watch more movies, and have some fun!
Since this is a milestone year for the Letterboxd Season Challenge we are adding 10 bonus themes! That's one bonus theme for each year The Letterboxd Season Challenge has been alive! These bonus themes include past favorites and reoccurring themes from seasons past. Watching ten more movies is a great way to celebrate the longevity and fun of this ten-year-old challenge, but feel completely free to choose to watch only some or none of these bonus movies, as your schedule and/or desire allows. They are called bonus for a reason. That being said, we welcome everyone to fully embrace these bonus themes and to sprinkle them in throughout the season as you choose. Logs for these themes should be tagged with lsc10 bonus1, lsc10 bonus2 etc.
Since the clone feature on Letterboxd doesn't copy over the notes section, here is a page with all the formatting ready to copy over the prompts to your own lists' notes sections if you want to include them.
