Wasn't really funny, aliens were okayish and the story suckd a bit.

Alien Country (2024)
Watched the Blu-ray release from Rising Sun Media

This surprisingly decent alien invasion comedy was pretty fun. It looks awesome, and the effects look even better, especially for an independent film. It didn't make much sense, and the story is rather thin, but I had a good time with "Alien Country". More independent filmmaking like this, please!!!!

3.5 stars - Recommended
2 stars for the competent filmmaking, 1 star for the alien design, and half a star just for being made outside the Hollywood chamber.

Seriously, this was way better than I expected. It looked fantastic, despite being shot on digital. Great cinematography and lighting, and really impressive VFX. The tone was lighthearted and fun, and the comparisons to Tremors are appropriate. I want to see more from everyone involved in this. Really fantastic for being a low budget independent production. Swings so far above its weight class that it's shocking. Highly recommend. 7.8/10

This was far more competent that I was expecting, with some nice performances, cinematography and enough amusement to keep my interest through the emotional through line moments which didn’t quite land for me despite appreciating the thematic writing. It’s very silly but has some heart.

More comedy than horror. Looks like the cast are having fun together and I like some of the visuals, with the bright green FX aliens and going through parallel universes.

This was a mostly entertaining miss of a movie. It failed nearly every step of the way, but still managed to be somewhat endearing.

This reminded me so much of Tremors and that gave me a really warm feeling inside.

A really fun family friendly alien invasion movie with added stock cars.

Reeling from the news of an unexpected pregnancy, Jimmy (Corbin Allred) and Everly (Renny Grames) unknowingly release an alien invasion in their small town and learn to work together in order to save each other, their town and evidently, the entire galaxy. This science fiction comedy feature, directed by Utah filmmaker Boston McConnaughey filmed in Utah around Spanish Fork, as well as the Manti Fairgrounds, Leprechaun Canyon and Goblin Valley State Park.

Alien County thinks it's so smart and funny with its slick edits, moderatley decent cgi, and badass grandma - when, in actuality, it is not. It is just as bland, inoffensive, and uninteresting as most of these direct to streaming sci-fi comedies, lacking any form of identity and statement.

This movie seems like it was fun to make. I hope the cast and crew had a really good time. 
  I'll give some grace to a first time director, but here's some advice: 
 -The reason people don't like the humor is not because they don't get it. It's because the jokes are tongue in cheek, not funny, and the timing is bad. 
 -The female lead needs to be really pretty if you want the movie to sell. Film is a visual medium. You can cast anyone you want as the love interest, for any reason, but if the audience is not attracted to that woman, there is no way for the movie to succeed.
 -Have the humility to learn how to tell a good story. Throwing a bunch of stuff on the screen and expecting audiences to like it is insulting.
