These sports movies are like pancakes
already eaten a million times
always tastes the same
nothing special
but they make me happy every time
New Mexico you are so beautiful, I’m so lucky I was born here.
Shoutout to Sydney for making Santa Fe the “villain” that’s so New Mexican of her.
anyways, the funniest part about working on this was when my dad would text me “I don’t think your boss (LeBron James) is going to be on set today :/“ because he was playing the Western Conference.
And whoever may be wondering, Sam (who plays Mason) did every dunk live on his own and it was so cool to watch.
Congrats to my fellow crew members and cast who worked on this!
White guy SHOCKS native basketball team by speaking FLUENT NAVAJO (not clickbait)
If there’s one good thing I think Netflix is consistent at, it’s their basketball movies. Rez Ball puts the spotlight on Indigenous way of life and identity on a reserve. I didn’t expect it to deal with some heavy subject matter, but I commend it on not shying away from including difficult topics such as suicide, alcoholism and others commonly found on reserves. It focuses on a high school basketball team and while it does stick to a well worn formula, when something works, it works. I can’t deny that. This team and these people came across as very authentic and I wanted to see them succeed. All around, it’s a real solid sports drama.
LeBron James is listed as a producer.
Coach Heather Hobbs will make a big call,
That her team wants to win it all.
They’ll have to go deep,
Herding some sheep,
Pass and shoot like they’re playing “Rez Ball”.
Rez Ball opens with a first act so powerful I guess the only way to go was down. And while it's a perfectly good sportsball movie, it never rises above that into a great one. But it's good... a perfectly good sports film.
It's a basketball movie set on among high school team on a Navajo reservation. After a tragedy, they have to rebuild their confidence and learn to work together again... ideally borrowing from their Native American heritage. And the love of the game.
I was all set to give this a very high rating until it just turns into an underdog sports movie. And, like I said, it's actually a pretty good one of those so no arguments…
the main villain in this is a jokic sun, draymond rising and luca moon.
this was so cute and heartwarming and i cried one tear and i love basketball and when netflix gives money to indigenous filmmakers!!!!!!
