Hoop-Tober 5.0: Hey stop scraping that knife against the counter, jesus!

My list: boxd.it/216qg

Had to stop watching Elvira to write this fucking review. Let’s get this shit over with.

There are some really genuine sequences of tension in this film however it loses its steam quickly. They use the same gimmick of knocking at the door over and over again. There really is no rising tension. The couple never get the upper hand and in turn lose it. We always see them being spooked by shadowy figures in the distance or loud noises.

After seeing the second one first I can confirm that these are the most boring killers in the entire slasher genre. All they have is the innate ability to be at the right place at the right time.

I also hate the trope where the protagonist accidentally kills one of the friends. I feel like everyone sees it coming and you never actually feel the tension the characters must be feeling at the time. Only on few occasions do I think this trope actually works. Ex: The Decent

I was hoping for something more like Straw Dogs, instead all I got was to people bumbling around their house for an hour and a half.

10 surrounded, tied down and finished. 25 more to go.
