JESUS TAKE THE BLOODY WHEEL!!
Seriously!! Like will something, Jesus, the universe, some higher power or something cut this woman some slack and help her out of this waking nightmare she’s in?! Far out!!
An exercise in how much stress a single human can handle, and how much anxiety a movie can inflict upon its audience. I was teetering on the edge of my seat for most of its brief runtime, so nervous and full of dread.
It’s a drama but boy oh boy is it thrilling and exciting to watch. Laure Calamy gives one of the most heartbreaking and real performances of recent memory, you feel every single bit of her sadness and desperation, WOW!!
The final 5 minutes was intense, THAT scene, that tease. Hahaha.
This is why people kill themselves. We were not designed for this modern life. This is not why humans were put on this Earth. But now we find ourselves trapped in an existence that can be cold, cruel and unforgiving.
A real life thriller from start to finish. If Uncut Gems wasn't about a worthless cunt.
Laure Calamy is phenomenal. Great score.
Imagine if the Dardenne Brothers directed ‘Run Lola Run’ and substituted all the thriller tropes with dramatic tension strained from the anxiety of human existence itself…Yeah, I am not okay.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
j'ai oublié de respirer je crois
Like if the Dardennes made Speed, but instead of a bus, it's a woman racing to catch a bus, and if she slows down, her bank account explodes.
Surviving in modern capitalism is an anxiety inducing pilgrimage. It shifts between its more observed moments and thriller-like structure with precision. The way so much of it is split between avoiding the boss, looking at the phone and get stuck in transit feels right. A very good job of work: does everything it sets out to do, remains gripping with relative few shortcuts and offers Laure Calamy a great showcase.
