The special effects, the cinematography, the acting, the storyline, all of them were so breathtaking.
Now i’m so excited for kingdom season 3, lee chang & ashin are on totally different sides regarding the resurrection plant, their clash will be so exciting to watch.
Let me start by stating that the actual horror political thriller Netflix series Kingdom is a firm 5 ⭐ masterpiece in my book. I can't recommend it strongly enough.
The show is a quintessential blend of the best elements of Game of Thrones (i.e., political intrigue, machinations and betrayal, etc.) and the best elements of Train to Busan (i.e., relentless running zombie horror and gore). Kingdom seriously has the best zombie lore that I've ever seen (whether movies or shows), and the greatness of its tense and intense moments is accentuated by rich storytelling as well as awesome, multi-dimensional characters that you both hate and root for.
That said...as far as Kingdom: Ashin of the North, I think it's solid,…

Is 2021 the year of Zombie tigers
quite fascinating thought about south korea is its interesting history dates back from the joseon period and creating a tale about a zombie in hanbok is a cultural reset. jun ji-hyun barely utters a dialogue throughout the film yet her acting profoundly tells what every villain origin story should be. needless to say, this is the perfect sidequel to the kingdom universe and there is a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation for season three.
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance but in zombie world.
Another hook to complete the answers from Season 2. Kingdom: Ashin of the North is a violent, revenge tale that gladly stick to the consistency: beautifully shot, disturbing, scary, at all times gleefully entertaining. Netflix once again delivers great content to live up the Kingdom saga.

Tragedy, betrayal and a mysterious discovery fuel a woman's vengeance for the loss of her tribe and family in this special episode of "Kingdom."
This film is a “prequel” to one of the absolute best, if not the best, zombie television shows of all-time. It features a riveting lead performance and some of the absolute best cinematography of the year. There is something about every aspect of the filmmaking in this universe that hits different on a visual level. The phenomenal cinematography combined with the outstanding color correction create a top-notch experience. The story itself is solid, and from a cultural standpoint, there is so much to take away from it.…
Hell hath no fury like a northern woman scorned.
Kingdom: Ashin of The North is a gripping prequel/origin story of the zombie saga that was Kingdom. Rich in cultutal references, breathtaking cinematography, clean editing, effective acting, good sound editing, and smart storytelling, Ashin will surely reanimate the desire to rewatch the first two seasons of Kingdom. The plot utilized political dynamics that made the first season unusual beyond an already exhausted zombie genre. Come thru Season 3!

Sadly, I really wasn't a fan of this film.
Let's start with what I liked. I think the acting was good and the performances felt realistic, and I was surprised by the gore, it was well made and I didn't expect the intensity of it. Beside that, I had a bad time with Kingdom: Ashin of the North . I never connected with the plot nor the characters, and I was bored early on. In my opinion, this was a basic revenge story where I struggled to care about what wat happening on the screen. I know that this film is a prequel spin off to the tv show Kingdom, maybe If I watched the show I would…
Now that's a proper revenge story.
Actual, visceral and nasty revenge that feels earned.
It's a slow burn at first, I must confess, but when the shit hits the fan… oh boy does it hit.
I really like the Korean show Kingdom and this is a great prequel. Of course do not watch this without having seen the first 2 seasons or you might be completely lost. Or ignore this and do so as it could be a fun little experiment? It kinda stands on its own but the shift near the middle part might prove to be quite the huge whiplash for viewers not familiar with the show.
Anyway, bold of Jun Ji-hyun to portray a role such as this.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
And there I was. Barbeque sauce on my titties and mostly ambivalent to how Netflix's OG K-drama, Kingdom, had ended. It was and remains the first original Korean drama the streamer ever did. If it had a Letterboxd thingie, I'd give it a 4/5. Highly recommend that show. This prequel episode stretched to feature film length though? Skip this.
For those uninitiated, Kingdom is some Game of Thrones type shit by way of zombies set during the Joseon dynasty (1590s-1670s). It's fucking rad. Glorious set designs, beautiful costumes, and some Train to Busan flavored zombies...I loved it so much. So then I was like, oooweeee a prequel film! No. No oooweeee.
Ashin is kind of reminiscent of The Rats: A…
