A crew of four attempt to make a Hitman romance flick (...with two actors...), only the remote hotel they're shooting in seems to be haunted.
With few exceptions, I don't like films about filmmaking. So you will definitely get more out of this than I did... at the same time its a skeleton crew so bare bones, that it barely simulates that. Most of the budget coming from odd jobs for a bratty streamer's ASMR videos, however, rings sadly true. There is a ghost, and a few jump scares, but most of the runtime is light comedy. I've seen plenty of Korean romcoms with horror elements that are more committed to the genre, at the same time the humour which is at the forefront, frequently falls flat. I Can Only See was clearly made for the right reasons, and more power to the filmmakers, its execution just leaves something to be desired.
Here we have a well-produced horror movie that looks great, only, it can't decide what it wants to be. It's really not scary enough to be a horror movie, it's not intriguing enough to be a thriller and it's certainly not funny enough to be a comedy. The only "jokes" in the movie are toilet-related jokes, and they fall flat.
