The Academy Award for Best Dance Direction, introduced in 1936 at the 8th Academy Awards and discontinued after the 10th Academy Awards, was presented annually for the best achievement in dance direction and/or choreography in a musical film from the previous year.
The award was discontinued due to pressure from the directors' branch. It is also the only category for which a Marx Brothers film received an Oscar nomination.
Sorted Chronologically by Awards Year. Winners in BOLD. Acceptance speech linked in Notes (where available).
