The Academy Award for Best Sound, introduced in 1931 at the 3rd Academy Awards, is presented annually for the best achievement in sound in a film from the previous year.
Though an award was given in 1932 and 1933, they were not associated with any individual film title. At times the award has been split into two awards: sound mixing and sound editing, but currently is one overall award.
Sorted Chronologically by Awards Year. Winners in BOLD. Acceptance speech linked in Notes (where available).
