just when you think the art of the location card has peaked with the opening "SOMEWHERE IN HOLLOW EARTH", a new area is introduced with "SUBTERRANEAN REALM - Unmapped Region"

simple math: one star for godzilla curling up in the coliseum like it's a cat bed. one star for kong swinging the mini-kong by his ankle to beat the fuck out of some other apes. half-star for the evil ape's insane anime villain swag. half-star for the ice dragon being SO cute. and that makes up for a LOT of horrible punch-up dialogue.

Slightly underwhelming and doesn’t get really fun until the final act— at which point it becomes a riotous kaiju bar fight (complimentary). Crumbling cities and monsters performing WWE movies is why we sign up for these movies and it’s why the movie ultimately ends on a high note. 

But once again, here is another Monsterverse movie that is buckling under the weight of its own convoluted story. There’s zero trust in the audience, so the first hour is a hand holding expository snooze fest. Falls into to the trap of treating titans as expendable rather than letting the audience bask in the awe of something new and powerful— if this is the plan for next few movies, it’s a sign to be concerned.

Plus they didn’t even kiss at the end, so what are we even doing here.
