The Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, introduced in 1982 at the 54th Academy Awards, is presented annually for the best achievement in makeup and hairstyling in a film from the previous year.
Though given as an Honorary Award in 1965 and 1969, the competitive category was created after the academy received complaints that the makeup work in The Elephant Man (1980) was not being honored.
Sorted Chronologically by Awards Year. Winners in BOLD. Acceptance speech linked in Notes (where available).
