Seen on Chattanooga Film Festival 2021

The Lodger didn’t overstay their welcome and gave us an ending that left us wondering. 

The story was pretty good along with the atmosphere of the house. This fantasy film dive into some paranormal like tones and mystery vibes. It was beautifully shot and well performed by the two actresses playing Julie and Elizabeth. 

Overall, this was a pretty good movie that doesn’t push the gore and blood to make this story captivating. The tone and mystery does that for you.

OK, here's the pitch: Imagine a Lifetime Original about a young woman going to nursing school who takes a room with an older married couple, and the dangerous love triangle that develops as the young woman falls for the older woman's husband. Now lay that over Pin because the husband is also maybe a ghost and definitely a med school dummy and make the whole thing French. And the older woman is Jacqueline Bissette.

So yeah, loved this one.

Ooo THE LODGER is a nice little surprise. An operatic awakening of romance and horror which takes the viewer on a surreal journey as two women collide in a bizarre love triangle.

it's shocking how this film is hitchcocking...

at first i thought the crazy woman was the grandmother...
but it turns out that the real madwoman is the main character...
this level of insanity is impossible to imagine...

i don't know if i'm taking it too wrong or if it's the creators... but for some reason after the movie i can't help but get a pungent taste of sexism from its script...

Over the years, Jacqueline Bisset’s career has gone through many ups and downs. She was one of the great English roses of 1960s cinema and collaborated with everybody from Audrey Hepburn to Alan Alda. Her beauty has immortalised her as a glamorous icon, but she always had a way of subverting her image. In Day for Night (1973) she portrayed a sex symbol who struggles with mental health issues and an unstable marriage. It was a gutsy move to play such a damaged, fragile figure when Hollywood seemed insistent on turning her into an untouchable goddess. The conflict between her serene outward appearance and the quiet hysteria that hides behind her polite grin has always been an essential part of her screen persona. You can never quite tell whether she’s toying with the people around her or planning to pull off some underhanded attack.

– вскоре квартирантка тоже начинает испытывать к невидимому собеседнику какие-то чувства. Мистическая мелодрама про то, как женщины делят мужчин даже после их смерти. Мне понравился своей неактуальность и выпадением из трендов, много нелепых сцен в духе хорроров 80-х, люблю такое. Биссет в 75 выглядит потрясающе.

A supernatural romance with a dash of Grand Dame Guignol, like Greta meets The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Jacqueline Bisset is clearly having a ball, and I did too.

Greta walked so The Lodger could run. This is French camp and Jacqueline Bisset absolutely understands the assignment.
