Putin shouldn't control Russia or define its history. The sooner we're rid of him the better. Small things to do are watching and sharing documentaries on geopolitical problems he's causing or making worse and watching classic Russian cinema to enjoy what will be a great country again when he is gone/dead/whichever (preferably both).

The first four I've watched and they are great. The rest is a watchlist. I'll try to sort them by quality and availability. That way every time Putin makes Russia commit new atrocities we have films to watch. This is a huge issue—he is a war criminal and needs to go. Most of the watchlist is drawn from the war in Ukraine but I will do a bit of research and get some stuff from around the world in here.
