On the 8th of December 2013 I wrote my very first review on Letterboxd. Now 2 years later I would like to take a little look back on my humble existence on what turned out to become my most valued film related website.
I've been a movie fan for years; probably for the most part of my rather young life. I used to rate films on a German IMDB like site and write reviews in various forums or on that stupid blog I had when I was younger.
I found out about Letterboxd when I briefly went to check out 4chan's /tv/ board of all places. Never would I have thought back then, that I would spend so much time…

I found out about Letterboxd when I briefly went to check out 4chan's /tv/ board of all places. Never would I have thought back then, that I would spend so much time with the LB community.
I loved the website's functionality and look and quickly began to copy all of my thousands of ratings from my previous film site to LB. This took hours of repetitive clicking but it was worth it. By now I always go to Letterboxd first to rate films or to read up on them and really neglected that site I used to visit for years.
I love the diary aspect of the site. I think it's interesting to see what you have seen in the past and it's really fun to read your own review about a movie that you absolutely forgot.
The yearly statistics page you get with Pro is awesome too. I love that stuff.
But one of the best things about this site is the people on here. Granted if it weren't for Twitter I wouldn't have as much fun since communicating with other LB users on the site itself is pretty limited. But I really value the people on here. There are some guys whose stuff I love to read and whose opinion I began to value rather highly. I don't wanna list off all those people in fear of forgetting someone, but those people probably know who I mean.
My own style of reviews has a lot of ups and downs. But generally I think it's save to say my style of writing improved over time. I'm no super user with tons of likes on my reviews but even after 2 years I actually still value the few likes my stuff gets. I know it's not really about that stuff and not every like means that person actually read the text, but it feels good everytime I manage to get the most popular review on some stupid, obscure piece of shit. lol
Anyway, I wanna thank every person I ever talked to or whose stuff I liked on here as well as the makers of this glorious page. People tend to get salty over the errors and load times but I can't get unnerved by this. Sure, I never lost anything big before due to these failures but even if that was the case the immense fun I have with this page totally outways the errors.
In this super self indulgent, kinda narcissistic and stupid list I collected some of my personal favorite reviews of mine which I wrote since I signed up on here. These are either reviews I feel proud about how I conducted them, reviews I get a chuckle out of (yeah, I laugh about my own jokes.) or reviews that tell you something about me.
Use "List View" to see the links to the reviews.
The reviews are sorted by date, from oldest to newest.
Thank you all for great 2 years and I hope to see you all on here for many more!
